This restaurant was soooo disappointing!
We were so excited to find this restaurant because its French and there were no chapulinas anywhere on the menu 😂
The terrace was very nice ; though the music a bit loud.
We ordered a fancy $40 cheese plate with prosciutto and when it came we realized there were some cheap crackers, olives and strawberry and Spanish cheeses (hard paste ones) so nothing French! I would have been ok with a $40 cheese plate if the cheese was french and smelly but this was far from the case. I was quite disappointed but decided to not let it ruin the evening.
We ordered onion soup and bisque de hommard but Both were not available! I Dont know what kind of French kitchen runs out if cheese bread and onions for an onion soup…. But ok…. Another disappointment!
Then came my entree… made no sense because we had also ordered a ratatouille which was an appetizer and my entree should have come alongside the other entree.. so then it was quite awkward to eat without the person but in the interest of it being hot, i had to eat without the person i came with (though or course i offered her some). Again this was disappointing but i didn’t want it to ruin the evening though it was uncomfortable. The pissaladière was good.
We were cold so we asked for the heaters but unfortunately for us neither worked “because of the wind”. Another disappointment!
Then came the soup we ended up ordering… it was cold! We may have mistakingly assumed it was hot so we take responsibility for this however we asked if the kitchen could heat it and we were told the chef refused to heat it in a microwave because it changes the taste.. it sounded like a french chef (i can say that because im french) but we were told she was mexican..! My mom got upset because we were cold and just wanted it heated so finally they did it but it was an argument… another disappointment!
Then came the appetizer, (yes after the entrees): i dont know how difficult it is to mess up a ratatouille because it’s literally just tomatoes onion and zuchini/eggplant but i went to go take a bite and the strangest/worst smell appeared! I didnt want to make another problem for my mom whom was happy to treat me to a nice restaurant but i was scared to be sick… i asked my mom if she minded having a small bite so she agreed but the smell was intense and she also could not eat It. I told the waitress because i believe someone could get sick from that and she told the manager of the servers that was completely useless and then told the chef whom REFUSED to come out and talk to me about the dish because it was too late! So to me that is a bad sign you can not face your clients. Another disappointment.
The waitress asked us if we wanted anything else and i said maybe crepe or at least coffee but she then said the kitchen had closed… which to me is the worst thing you can do in a “french” restaurant : close kitchen before asking guests that are dining if they want coffee or dessert both of which are essentials for any French person ! Again a disappointment! But at this point we wanted to run for our lives in any case so it was ok.
Then came the bill. This is where i draw the line! They decided to charge us for the ratatouille. The ratatouille was really cheap but by principle there was NO way i was going to pay for something i didnt eat that on top of it could make me sick. Thinking back maybe the dish it came in had cleaning products in it!!
I had to call back the server Theo (whom was very professional) and tell her i refused to pay that. The chef said we had to pay and the manager was off but i refused! Finally they removed it.
It was a horribly...
Read moreThis is not a french restaurant, what a big disappointment. We made a reservation, when we entered the host told us to wait because they were preparing our table. When she took us up the stairs she was telling us that everything on the menu is French. I was looking forward to eat reall French food. When we came up, our table was not ready and we needed to wait uncomfortable standing in the terrace. After we sit down, the music was too loud to have a conversation, we asked twice to put the volume lower. The chairs are to low for the table. We needed to ask for the menu, and if we could order. You get water from the house, that is positive. We wanted to try the cheese plate that they ask 800 pesos for. We asked if there was Brie on, the waiter said yes. Than I wanted to order a glass of white French wine, that was not possible only por bottle. I am the only one drinking wine and don’t want a whole bottle but ok, I asked the wine menu (twice). There where 3 white wines, two Mexican and one super expensive French. Ok than cheese with no wine. The cheese platter arrived and I asked the waiter where the Brie is, because I didn’t see it, he Pointed out a hard cheese. The cheeses where all Mexican (I know the cheeses because sometimes I buy them in a store), so why ask 800 pesos. So no wine and no French cheese, I was not happy and wanted to leave. The “manager” came and we made our complaint about the Mexican cheeses and that the waiter said that their would be brie. He didn’t make any effort to solve this problem, he could go to the kitchen for a small piece of brie (because it was on the menu for an other dish) and serve it but apparently that was too much work. I wanted to leave but the other people wanted to give it an other try. We ordered onion soup, this was watery, not enough cheese on top and not enough onion. I ordered the lobster soup, they mixed the cream in the soup why, and I had a small piece of lobster but also shrimps. Somebody else had a small pizza with brie and onions, it was small and ok but not for that price. After that we were still hungry of course, decided to pay and we went to an other restaurant to eat. Service is not good, you don’t sit comfortable, the quality of the food is not good, it is not French and it is overpriced! Oh and be carefull if you go to the toilets, there is a step up and the light goes on when you are really in the toilet. Two of us tripped because it was dark and we didn’t see...
