It's a very local joint - expect plastic chairs and a table with a fan type of vibe. The popular dishes include sopas, tamales, empanadas and drinks (horchata, smoothies). The prices are cheap and the food is tasty. Special chicken soup (with liver and gizzard) (4.5/5): large bowl of flavourful soup with a lot of ingredients. The liver and gizzards were cooked well and adds different texture to the soup. Large mango smoothie (4/5) and small horchata (5/5): the large smoothie is really large but lacks mango flavours, the small horchata is very flavourful and creamy. Special chicken empanada mixta (4/5) and special beef empanada mixta (5/5): very reasonably priced and flavourful. We found that the ground beef really adds the flavour to the empanada, while the chicken was simple in flavours. Overall, we had a great time, and will come back again.

Mouthwatering food. So good I was almost brought to tears. When in playa, my friend and i stayed at an air bnb down the street. We ate here maybe 3 times. It was sooooooooooooo good. It’s helpful if you speak Spanish, or at least Spanglish. But even if you don’t, if you can point to what you want, you’ll generally be ok. I had tamales (wrapped in banana leaf, soo moist but not so moist that the masa fell apart), sopa (after a long day in the sun, was truly what the doctor ordered), and a few random selections off the menu. The only bad thing is that because everything is prepared throughout the day, when it’s gone, it’s gone...one night all I wanted was a tamale, but they were out.

I came here often to have a late snack on my way home. They are open from 6pm to 2am. It has always been crowded. The menu is available in English as well on which they describe most of their dishes. The caldo de pollo comes with a load of tostadas (fried tortillas), lime and onion. Use all of the lime and onion in order to get the most flavorful experience. It is a big portion, consider getting half a bowl if you’re not too hungry. They do not serve the usual tacos but many other fine dishes for reasonable prices.
