Title: Mixed Experience at Eladio's: Great Location, Inconsistent Service

My husband and I recently visited Eladio's during our vacation to visit family, and while the restaurant boasts a prime location by the beach, our experience was a mixed bag.

Let's start with the positives. The setting of Eladio's is undeniably beautiful, with the beach just a stone's throw away, creating a serene atmosphere perfect for a relaxed meal. The ambiance is welcoming, and the beachfront view adds a special touch to the dining experience.

However, our dining experience was marred by several issues. Firstly, the service at Eladio's is inconsistent and heavily dependent on the waiter you happen to get. While some staff members were attentive and friendly, others seemed disinterested and even borderline rude, especially during our visit closer to closing time. We arrived around 7 p.m., only to find out that they were not accepting any more customers since they close at 8. This inflexibility left a sour taste in our mouths and made us feel unwelcome.

Additionally, the quality of the food did not live up to our expectations. The pizzas, in particular, were undercooked, and the overall menu offerings left much to be desired. It seems that going to Eladio's in the afternoon, especially around 7 p.m., might not be the best idea as the staff's attitude tends to deteriorate, and the food quality suffers.

While our recent experience at Eladio's was disappointing, I believe that visiting during normal dining hours might provide a better experience. Perhaps during the day, when the kitchen is fully operational and the staff are more accommodating, Eladio's could shine as a destination for good food with a stunning view.

In conclusion, Eladio's has its pros and cons. The beachfront location is undoubtedly its biggest asset, offering a picturesque backdrop for dining. However, the inconsistent service and subpar food quality, especially in the later hours, detract from the overall experience. If you decide to give Eladio's a try, I would recommend visiting during regular dining hours to maximize your chances of a positive experience. Lastly I would love to have light when the food is served...

My family and I visited here this past weekend while on vacation. One of our servers unfortunately dropped all of the dirty plates she was picking up from our table on my sister and I. It was messy and got everywhere and stained our clothes but we understood that it was an accident, however the server barely offered an apology and didn't seem genuine about it. Our server also made the mistake of leaving without placing any caution sign or asking for help to clean the food still evidently on the floor, which resulted in another male server walking by with a tray FULL of dishes and slipping on the previous mess with all the food. My sister and I were able to catch him before fully falling and hurting himself but more food got on us and other guests nearby. The manager stood there the entire time "supervising" but never once helped or offered an apology to anyone. He only apologized when my mother confronted him. Only after that happened was a caution sign finally placed over the mess. It was extremely disappointing to have not been shown any courtesy. We never asked for anything but it would have been nice to have been shown that they were at least genuinely sorry. The poor server who slipped and fell was more apologetic to us than our server who caused everything. To top it all off our second server demanded we didn't tip them enough when most people wouldn't leave anything after an experience like that. Oh and to end this horrible experience, the food was awful and lacked taste in every possible way. I mean it's pretty hard to mess up a shrimp cocktail and yet they achieved that. It seems like people really enjoy this place based on reviews, it was unfortunate that our experience will never...

A perfect sunset dinner by the sea — delicious food, great drinks, and unbeatable views

We had dinner at Eladio’s Bar Progreso about a week ago, and the experience was absolutely worth sharing. We were a group of three and sat outdoors right by the beach — the view of the ocean as the sun went down was simply incredible, one of the most memorable parts of our trip to Progreso.

Drinks: We ordered a mango mezcal, tamarind mezcal, and a mojito. All three were excellent, but the tamarind mezcal stood out — smooth, tangy, and not overly sweet. The mango mezcal was refreshing, and the mojito had a nice balance of mint and lime. Perfectly chilled and great to sip on with the sea breeze.

Food: For dinner, we had the fried fish with garlic, breaded shrimp, and a grilled fish fillet. Everything was fresh and well-prepared. The garlic fish was especially flavorful — crispy outside, tender inside, and packed with garlicky goodness. The shrimp were golden, crunchy, and not greasy at all. The grilled fillet was perfectly cooked and seasoned, with a simple, clean taste that let the freshness shine through.

The complimentary botanas (snacks) that came with the drinks were also a nice touch — something you don’t get everywhere, and they gave a little taste of local flavors.

Service & Atmosphere: Staff was friendly and attentive, even though the place was fairly busy. The vibe is casual, fun, and very local. There was live music playing softly in the background, which added to the laid-back, festive ambiance.

Highly recommend if you’re in Progreso — especially if you want a solid seafood dinner and a cocktail while watching the waves roll in. We’d...

December 5, 2017. From a Carnival Cruise tourist couple. Server was phenomenal. Was seated right on the beach with sand under my feet. What wasn't good is the coconut shrimp. It was overcooked and chewy. Minus 1 star. Properly cooked shrimp should have a snap. I am sure this was frozen not fresh as we were told. It was however a very pretty plate as you can see from my pictures. They offered us enough samples to make a meal. Bad thing about being seated where we were was the seller hawking their tourist trinkets. Some of them just wouldn't take no as an answer. I feel the workers should do a better job of keeping them a bay at least while you're trying to eat. Minus 1 star. Otherwise it wasn't too bad was beautiful ocean view. Next time we will eat here again.
