What a horrible experience! First let me say my husband and I have both worked in the the restaurant business so we understand seating. We walked by and waiter gave us menus and invited us in.We were starving so accepted. This was around 3 pm. The only customers there were one family and 2 men. Waiter told us we could sit where we wanted. It was blazing hot and all the 2 tops were in the sun, plus some were in the sun and up against the pool that had kids splashing. We chose one of the tables that had the curtains. Waiter takes our drink orders and we had already decided on our meal and ready to place , just waiting on his return. We loved the atmosphere so much I could see us spending a couple of hours there having more drinks after our meal, I was excited for my Mango margaritas to come to the table. All of a sudden a manager walks up and tells us we cant sit there!! He said it was only seating for families!! He directed us to sit in the full blazing sun . We told him the sun was blaring there, the waiter ran up looking confused and the manager walks off. So we left. Now I totally get having certain seating available. I have hosted before and you try and save big tables for large parties but the place was practically empty at 3pm. Also if we had been told when we first walked in we could only sit certain places we could have decided to stay or go and not be embarrassed by someone pretty much throwing us out. Too bad for them. We will never be back. This was not only a vacation, but I trial run because we are planning on purchasing a home there. So they lost what could have been long time customers all because of a...

My family was on a Cruise and Progreso was one of our stops. We walked down to the beach once we were dropped off at the Flea Market. I was looking for a bathroom and came across this beautiful restaurant. I asked the host if they had a bathroom and she said yes and so went in and was so Amazed how beautiful this place was! Plus we were hungry so we decided to eat there. I could not get over how friendly Illya was and the staff was towards us. The menu was also beautiful 🤩 We had order the Coconut shrimp and they were huge! The shrimp tostadas, an appetizer with guacamole, black beans, and salsa with chips, Ceviche and different mixed drinks. Everything was fresh and homemade. We stayed for over an hour and wished we could have stayed longer but had shopping to do before we board the ship again. I highly recommend this Authentic Restaurant! I can’t wait to be able to go back one day. Definitely one of the highlights for my Cruise! I would give them 10 stars ⭐️ if I could! Such a...

Maya-KA quickly became my favorite restaurant in Progreso. I returned multiple times during my stay, bringing family with me on several visits, and every experience was exceptional. The restaurant itself is stunning—right on the Malecón with a fresh breeze, a pool to cool off in, and thoughtful touches like a beach shower. The ambiance, the cultural decor, the music—it all creates a space that’s both relaxing and full of soul.

But what truly made Maya-KA stand out was the service, especially from Martin. From my first visit, his professionalism, warmth, and genuine attention to detail left such a strong impression that I requested his section every time. He anticipated our needs without hovering, knew the menu inside and out, and treated every guest with grace. He brings five-star energy to a beachfront setting—balancing friendly conversation with seamless service.

The food was consistently incredible. I sampled a wide range of dishes, from traditional Yucatecan recipes to fresh seafood, and everything was vibrant, beautifully prepared, and bursting with flavor. My entire family—across generations—was thoroughly impressed.

Maya-KA is a gem, and Martin is a rare talent. If anyone deserves a raise or recognition, it’s him. He’s not just a great server—he’s the kind of person who elevates the entire dining experience.

I own a bar down about ten minutes away from Maya-Ka, Señor Crocs restaurant and pickleball club. I'm familiar with the dining in Progreso/Merida. I make a point of coming here as often as I can everytime I'm in Progreso. I absolutely love this place. Amazing atmosphere, perfect for romantic dates late at night with all the lighting. Every single dish I've had has been spectacular. If you enjoy seafood, I highly recommend the "Trilogía De Pescado 3 pzas." It's perfectly sharable for two people, just ask them to cut the tostadas in half when you order it. Alexis was our server, professional, polite, bilingual, and an overall chipper demeanor. Cannot recommend Maya-Ka enough! Also their giant lime Margarita is also delicious! Although there's many good spots to stop at on the Malecon. Maya-Ka is number one! 10/10.

The decor and pool are the best part. The food was just average. Really had the urge to try some Lobster, but was so confused as there was no price listed for the lobster. The waitress told us, "the price depends on how much you order", but didn't go on to specify the minimum amount that you can order, nor what the price is for that amount. We ended up ordering the Shrimp Tacos and Chicken Breast, which weren't bad, but nothing to write home about. The Shrimp Tacos, although large and filling, were a little dry and bland. They should put some sauce and seasoning on them. The sauces in the bottles are too bland and the sauce they provide on the side is too hot.
