Bocamar l Marisquería l Del Mar al Paladar — Restaurant in Quintana Roo

If you’re looking for truly terrible service, this is the place to go. We arrived around 8:30 PM and placed our order within 15 minutes. After 45 minutes, the first two dishes (out of nine) arrived. We then had to wait another 30 minutes for the next four dishes. The remaining three dishes never came, even after nearly another hour of waiting.

Instead of offering an apology or even a drink, they lied and said there was a system error but that the food was ready. When we later asked another staff member, he told us those three dishes hadn’t even been prepared.

All in all, after waiting two (!!) hours, it was 10:30 PM and we still hadn’t received all our food, so we decided to leave. On top of that, they messed up the bill with incorrect items, and at that point we were certain this place doesn’t even deserve one star.

Oh, and the dishes we did receive weren’t good at all: the pizza was undercooked, the tuna tartare had a strange taste, and so on. So no, do yourself a favor and...

I expect not to pay for service when I go to a restaurant because I always think is included. My ego makes me a great tipper but one thing I don't like is to have the tip included on my bill. Here they bring you the bill with total of meals and drinks plus in my case a 15% service charge "tip".

The chileaquiles no flavor I understand most of the turist that visit holbox are European but at least have a choice of a spicy sauce. The hotcakes also no flavor. Eggs came with potatoes needed to be cooked a little more no flavor, so we just added salt. Did not bring a spoon for my coffee.

This is not a restaurant for Mexicans. No flavor No spicy sauce No beans No brown sugar

They allow dogs, that was a plus because my kid likes to travels with her pet so that was good and practically the only reason we ate at this place.

Bocamar Marisquería – Holbox Island

Our experience at Bocamar Marisquería was unforgettable — truly a gem on Holbox Island. The service was unlike any other we’ve had on the island. Every single staff member, though I regret not remembering their names, was absolutely wonderful — warm, welcoming, and eager to help us choose the very best from their menu.

And the food? Top of the top. We had the fish zarandeado, fresh oysters, and prawns — every bite was exceptional. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and the preparation is done with real care and love. The flavors were vibrant and beautifully balanced.

I came here with my daughter and granddaughter, and all three of us left happy and full — not just from the amazing food and wine, but from the incredible service and overall experience.
