I really wanted to like this place. It was highly recommended to us by our airbnb host. However, our plates were disappointing. Pulpa a la plancha: the pieces of tentacles were tiny and few. The sauce tasted almost only of almost rancid butter. At least the pieces of pulpa were not overcooked, quite tender. All I can say was good about the plate is that, and the buttered veggies. Whole fried fish: it was red snapper. We chose the biggest fish, which our server informed us was 600$(pesos), which we accepted although I found was a very steep price for a Carribean city restaurant. The fish, it was way overcooked and too dry, but still edible. So we did eat it. Then, the BILL CAME! We were charged 800$(pesos) for the fish plate only. 200$ more than what our server had informed us. Absolutely a rip off. We live in Montreal and eat whole red snapper out all the time, and never paid over 30$CAD (35$CAD less than what we paid). So basically, we paid over 2x the price for a less tasteful fish than in our native city. We did not make a fuss because it is quite embarassing to do so about price and we are not cheapos. Also, it was the end of the night, before closing, so we felt bad. There was a guy scream laughing non stop in the restaurant and noone said anything. We saw a couple leave before eating because of him. Just want to tell people, either stick to basic plates or steer clear from this restaurant. We left with a...

This restaurant came by recommended of our cooking instructor Lily of Rivera’s Kitchen Tulum. The price ($400P for this sized fish which my partner and I split) and the service were great. My son enjoyed his entire steak platter with tostadas and enchiladas. The fish was a bit tasty but denser than we usually like. Always fried excellently. The tortillas were not amazing given the multiple versions we’ve tried and loved across Akumal and Tulum and of course Lily’s homemade ones so we weren’t able to turn the fish into a decent taco.
We enjoyed the cover singer but didn’t appreciate all of the vendors selling items both inside and outside of the venue. The atmosphere was relaxed and local unlike the front beginning of the centro and beach.
Given so many other places in the area to try and explore, I probably would not visit again unless they had the fish I enjoy given their prices are more reasonable for dining out. It’s a type of sea bass, red I think. Parking was available on the street. It’s a bit further down into the centro but I think it’s worth a visit. It has a steady stream of customers.

Read moreFantastic spot to be catered to on the beach. Staff was excellent and the food was FANTASTIC. We were stuck on Mango margaritas 🍹 and downed about 10 as a couple. Family friendly. There was $ miminum if you chose the beach side service. It included a cushioned setup with umbrella. I have included a pic of my family with the restaurant behind them. Very decorative and tranquil. The actual restaurant is a beautiful walk thru to the beach but you can certainly opt to stay in the restaurant without the minimum $ requirement. I believe it was a $58 U.S. for the beach. Not disappointed at all. There are a few vendors that walk the beach offering their goods but were respectful when you said "no thank you" or waived them off. Nice merchandise though. Necklaces, cover ups, coconut man, etc... If you have been to Cancun, you understand 😁....
