It's tough to give 5 stars to an eatery that has negligible service. There were four people dining there including the two of us. We ordered a salad to share and two entrees. We asked for two glasses of water & ordered one beer and 1 glass of wine. Took approximately 20 minutes for our salad to come to the table. Salad was great no complaints though we did ask for oil and vinegar on the side and the salad was dressed but it wasn't a problem. Our drinks came out and only one glass of water. From the time the salad plate was cleared to the entrees being served 25 minutes had passed. We certainly weren't in any hurry but we were hungry and as stated above there were only four people in the restaurant. While we waited for our entrees the wait person approached the table and said the penne would take another 5 minutes. It was actually another 10 minutes. The shrimp paisano was delicious but the spaghetti with Bolognese was seriously missing any meat. We told the wait person that there was no meat in the bolognese when she came to clear the table. She had never approached us while we were eating to see if everything was okay. We thought it best to go to the front counter to pay since we were on the patio and getting attacked by bugs! The owner was just walking in and we told him about the Bolognese. He said it had very finely ground beef. My darling man could not taste any meat at all. When we asked the owner what took so long to be served, he said the to go orders went out 1st. In conclusion, I'd get dinner to go but will not...
Read moreCaron and I have eaten here five times during our eight months in San Miguel. As far as I'm concerned, Denver's offers the best "traditional" Italian food in the city. Caron loves the Eggplant Parmesan, and I'm a big fan of their Spaghetti Bolognese. There's nothing pretentious about their menu or the space. They serve a nice salad, too. One rather unique thing.... they'll happily customize your pasta and/or your salad to your preferences. For example, I order my salad with tomatoes, onions, and no parmesan. Other options include green olives, black olives, broccoli, mushrooms, and so on. I have two nits to pick. First, the Countrytime Lemonade needs to go, and should be replaced with real limonada (and naranjada, too). Second, on more than one ocassion, there have been issues with getting all the entrées to the table at approximately the same time. Tonight, Caron was more than halfway finished before my spaghetti arrived. But these are minor complaints, and aren't hard to overlook because the food is consistently excellent. We'll be back,...
Read moreWow, Such a wonderful night out. We’ve had a couple separate friends tell us how much they like this place (foodies). It’s at the end of 20 de Enero, just a couple homes up from Sterling Dickinson. Denver, the owner, Really knows how to cook. His marinara has levels of flavor. Do not know how he learned to do this. Same with his pesto. And the pastas were Al dente with the garlic bread having delicious, actual, garlic! Not powder. Oh My 😄 We also got a good sized plate of grilled vegetables, seasoned and grilled just right (as Denver promised). This guy knows how to cook. Samantha, our lovely waitress, was so attentive, as our friends and other reviewers have said. Pleasant and fast service. A small, intimate place, And, we got seats...
