I've been here a few times already and have had a good experience overall. The breads are excellent! The service for the most part has been great! However, I went there this week on Monday and a young lady attended me in a somewhat sarcastic way when I asked to make sure my cappuccino was hot. I had only said that because I also come here the previous week and they served it to me luke warm but it was still good so I drank it without saying anything. She said more of less the equivalence of "well yeah" sarcastically. Then my wife ordered a chicken sandwich and she happened to open it up and sure enough there was a worm in the sandwich. We told the waitress about it and she just took it and didn't even apologizing. They (I think), made a new sandwich and brought a small Mexican bread called concha as a token of apology. I would have had more tolerance for this kind of thing if the waitress was nicer and not sarcastic. Moral of the story check your chicken sandwich for worms. Having said all this, the rest of the staff is always very nice and the breads are amazing. I would give the rest of the staff 5 stars, just not the young waitress that attended us. So they have dumbed down the barrista role to be a button presser - like Starbucks. However the worst thing is the condescending and sarcastic attitude of one of the serving staff today. When she came to the table to ask what the problem with the coffee was she became sarcastic and condescending. She seemed to think it's ok to look down her nose at a customer which is something I have never seen in Mexico. To be honest this person should not be working in any customer facing role. She has undone any good will I had for this place - which is a shame as the pastries are great. The others serving...
Read moreWhat a treasure this new San Antonio bakery is! Paulina, the owner is a true artist with her breads and pastries. The sourdough is her specialty and is to die for! The modern layout of the light, bright, open establishment is set up for hanging out quietly, or conversation, - and soon, classes! The whole cozy setup feels like you are passing time in the middle of the artist's studio - and you get to taste the results! In a town full of decent bakeries, there is simply nothing like this. And right down the street from my Wolf Gym. Killer artist pizza Thursday evenings :) Fabulous coffee, too. Warm and cozy and welcoming. Makes me want to learn to...
