Market Platz — Restaurant in San Miguel de Allende

I had the pleasure of dining at Market Platz last night—San Miguel de Allende’s newest addition to an already vibrant culinary scene—and what a treat it was. Although their official opening is set for July 17th, they’re currently open in a soft “preview” mode. Lucky for us neighbors!

Market Platz, the newest concept from the team behind New York Deli (right next door), brings “Central European” cuisine to the table—with a focus on German and Austrian flavors—and does so with style and authenticity.

I started with the roasted beet, orange, and goat cheese salad, and it was nothing short of amazing—beautifully balanced, fresh, and bursting with flavor. For my main course, I went with the Turkey Schnitzel, and it was absolutely fantastic. Crispy, tender, and perfectly seasoned, it was a hearty and comforting dish that stayed true to its roots while feeling right at home here in Mexico.

It’s hard to capture in words just how delightful this entire experience was. From the warm, welcoming ambiance to the quality of the food, Market Platz is a true gem in the making—and a worthy new entry in a town full of great restaurants.

My wife and I enjoyed dinner here and the food was absolutely fantastic. We shared a spinach and cheese dip with potatoes from their specials menu and it was incredible. The main courses were delicious, and the apple strudel for desert was icing on the cake.

The staff was very friendly welcoming. They patently answered our questions and offered wonderful recommendations.
