If you're in Tulum and craving authentic Mexican food, this is the place you cannot miss. In just two days in Tulum, we've found ourselves at La Malinche not once, but twice. it's that good.
From the moment we walked in, we were completely blown away by the warm, welcoming atmosphere, complementary tasters of dried crickets (so good!), mezcal, and mini sopes. It’s the perfect blend of laid-back Tulum vibes and vibrant local charm.
The food? Absolutely phenomenal. Every dish was bursting with flavor, clearly made with love and fresh, local ingredients. From the grilled octopus tacos to the huitlacoche burritos, everything was perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented.
Portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality and experience. A true gem in a place where things can get pricey fast.
But what truly made the experience unforgettable was the staff. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they do.

Read moreUnfortunately we were ripped of here on new years eve. The atmosphere was okay, no dancing but good music. The bar tender was lovely. We ordered and paid for cocktails then, at midnight on new years eve, a waiter brought everyone a round of tequila and then another. After 4 shots (we were handed) he tried to charge us for 6 shots and the cocktails we'd already paid for. I argued that we already paid for the cocktails, we only had 4 shots and we never even ordered those and we're led to believe they were free. In the end he told us we had to pay for the 4 shots and charged us 1,200 pesos (£46) - incredibly steep for 4 shots we were handed and never ordered. I personally would avoid this place as the atmosphere got very hostile when we realised we were...
Read moreThis was hands down the best meal I had in Tulum. The food was incredible, but what really set the experience apart was everything else that surrounded it. The drinks were perfectly crafted and some of the best I’ve ever had. The aesthetic is stunning—every detail feels thoughtful and authentic without being overdone. The music transports you back to the Mexico of the 1950s, creating an atmosphere that’s both nostalgic and refreshing. What I loved most is that it didn’t feel touristy or like a “Tulum trap.” Instead, it felt like how Tulum is meant to feel—authentic, warm, and full of character. If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience that captures the true spirit of...
