Oishi: A Journey Beyond Sushi – A Masterpiece of Culinary and Artistic Excellence

Dining at Oishi was nothing short of transcendent. This omakase-style haven doesn’t just serve food—it curates an experience that enchants all your senses. My family, including my 8-year-old and 12-year-old, was utterly captivated from the moment we stepped in, and by the end of the evening, we unanimously declared it a highlight of our lives.

A Visual and Culinary Symphony: we each had the 10 course meal. Every dish was a marvel of artistry and flavor. The seaweed salad with cucumber was a perfect opening act, balancing freshness and texture with a simplicity that somehow felt profound. The dragon-shaped tartar, adorned with flower petals and delicate nuts, was breathtaking—almost too stunning to eat. My children were in awe, marveling at the craftsmanship as though they were gazing at a sculpture in a gallery.

The 4 nigiri sushi pieces served next were a testament to the chefs’ mastery. Each one was a perfectly balanced bite that embodied elegance and precision, leaving us speechless after every taste. It was as if each piece was a chapter in a story we never wanted to end.

The Sweetest Finale: And then there was the lychee ice cream—an ethereal conclusion to an extraordinary meal. Its subtle sweetness and creamy texture made it the perfect palate cleanser, leaving us all with a smile and a collective sigh of contentment.

An Experience for the Whole Family Watching the chefs prepare each dish felt like entering a state of Zen. Their grace and precision held us in quiet admiration, as though we were witnessing culinary poetry. The staff was equally wonderful, ensuring even the youngest diners were engaged and enchanted.

The Verdict Oishi isn’t just a meal—it’s an immersive celebration of culinary art and family joy. It’s a place where food, artistry, and hospitality converge into something magical. This was, without a doubt, one of the finest dining experiences of our lives, and we can’t wait to return.

Rating: 6 out of 5 stars. Don’t walk—run to Oishi. It’s worth every moment, every penny, and every memory...

My boyfriend and I were both pretty new to Omakase but decided to come here for my birthday— it turned out to be one of the highlights of our Tulum trip. The ambiance is unlike any other restaurant I’ve ever been to. It’s very intimate consisting of one small room with high top tables encircling the two chefs as they prepare the dishes. Chef Ramces was very welcoming and personable as he explained all of his dishes thoroughly and answered our multitude of questions about him and sushi. We were able to see how passionate he was about being a chef. The Omakase was very rich in flavor and you could taste the freshness of the fish. The presentation of his dishes was also amazing as you can see in the photos I’ve included. At one point, every seat in the restaurant was occupied but the teamwork among the chefs, Katerina (mixologist) and other staff ensured everyone received their food/drinks in a timely manner. Ramces was very patient with us and did not make us feel rushed. He even gave us an extra course of sashimi for my birthday. For the dessert, we were given “the Cloud” and “the Orgasm”— both were delicious!! We gladly ended up spending 2.5 hours in this restaurant and left with full bellies and big smiles on our faces. Overall, an unforgettable experience and I would recommend this...

Stepping into Oishi Tulum is like stepping into a sanctuary of culinary artistry. The ambiance is a harmonious blend of Japanese minimalism and Tulum's bohemian charm, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience.

The 9-course Omakase experience is a symphony of flavors and textures, each dish carefully crafted to showcase the freshest seasonal ingredients and the chef's impeccable technique, every bite is a testament to the culinary excellence that Oishi embodies.

But the true heart of Oishi lies in its exceptional service. Our host, Katherine, was a gracious guide through our culinary adventure, her knowledge and passion for Japanese cuisine evident in her every recommendation and explanation.

Good alternative choice to the standard sweat fest restaurants of Tulum beach. You get to eat inside where it is air conditioned. Food is really tremendous and made fresh in front of you around a 16-18 person bar. We were rushed through at least 2-3 courses before any drinks were even considered being served, but this was to catch us up with some neighbours who were ahead of us and having fewer courses so they could prepare everything at the same time. This was rather disappointing as the start was seriously rushed and then we were addressed as a group. The people beside us were a young American group of girls out for a night of drinking so not great to get paired with. The middle was just loads of sushi, meaning the very rushed part of the meal was the part with the most flavour combination and flair. All in all, you’ll have a good experience here as long as you don’t get lumped with the wrong people beside you. For the cost I’d expected better and more considered dishes. I leave disappointed
