La Onda is an absolute culinary paradise that stole our hearts and taste buds so completely, we couldn’t resist returning the very next day! This hidden gem in Tulum is a must-visit for anyone craving an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment we stepped in, the exceptional service made us feel like royalty, with every detail handled with warmth and care. The food? Pure perfection. Their pizza is a masterpiece—crisp, flavorful, and downright amazing, easily some of the best we’ve ever had. The pasta is equally divine; the Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp was a creamy, succulent delight that left us craving more. And the salmon? To die for—cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and an absolute standout. The Caprese salad was a refreshing revelation, with ingredients so fresh you’d swear they were plucked from the garden minutes before hitting the plate. The drinks were a fantastic complement to the meal—well-crafted and delicious, adding to the overall vibe of this stellar spot. La Onda is a rare find, a place that combines incredible food, top-notch service, and an inviting atmosphere into one unforgettable package. Five stars aren’t enough—this Tulum treasure deserves a constellation! If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and discover this culinary haven. You’ll be dreaming about your next visit before...

AtlasAdventured highly recommends eating here!

After living in Tulum the past couple months we stumbled upon this amazing place while staying the hotel zone and were pleasantly surprised. One of the best, if not the best, pizzas we had in Tulum.

The location is good and right off the main street. It is an outdoor dining venue so the mosquitos are out in full force but they did provide us with some mosquito repellent which was appreciated.

We started off with the 2x1 margaritas and our daughter got the Agua del Dia (fresa). The blueberry margarita and the strawberry one were some of the best we have had. Good alcohol to fruit ratio and strong. Much better than most other places who offer the 2x1.

For our dinner we got the 'La Gringa' pizza which was phenomenal and I highly recommend. Good spice, great flavor and perfect crust. Our daughter got the kids pizza with pepperoni, sausage, black olives and mushrooms and she loved it too. Another well made pizza with fresh ingredients and well baked crust. It is attached to an ice cream shop so our daughter ordered the coconut ice cream rolls which were great too.

Overall a great experience so if you're in the area and looking for a great pizza at a fair price, this...

Their sign says “best pizza on earth”

I respect the bravado.

Didn’t hold up. But that’s not my qualm. They made me a pizza and gave me the ordered beverages per request.

My concern came when they brought the bill and told me the difference between pesos and dollars was different than the exchange rate.

By a lot.

I asked for clarification and they said that’s what it is. I showed them the current rate of exchange and they mumbled something about taxes and walked away expecting that I pay the ammount.

I was fine to pay in pesos but they insisted I pay in usd and the wrong amount.

Since I didn’t have any local cash, I was forced to pay the ammount that was different than I had ordered by.

I wouldn’t use a harsh word like “extortion” on a review. But maybe a bit of misleading and playing to the potential ignorance of travelers.

In general it’s best to pay in local currency. Though you’ll be hard pressed to find an ATM in resort row that provides anything but US dollars. And...

This place is great! Valentina and Ramon (the owners) are very sweet and friendly! We ordered a pizza with shrimp and bacon, chicken fajitas and a smoothie...all of which were very tasty! I would suggest paying in pesos anywhere you go in Tulum! We wanted to pay with card because we didn't have enough cash on us but their card reader wasn't working and I think the internet was down. There were several businesses that night that were having the same issue. Fortunately, Ramon was very generous to let us borrow his vespa motorbike to go to an ATM to get cash! When we returned, he offered us shots haha.. Regarding the atmosphere: very warm and inviting. Outdoor seating with a small pool against the wall, great for families, and they also have a pool table. Highly recommend giving La Onda a go! :)

We sat down at the "Best Pizza on Earth" with anticipation and eagerness for the pizza. Due to the low season we were one of maybe 5 tables in the restaurant however the service by the italian waiteress was second to none and was very passionate about her work which is good to see. We had 2 cheladas and a cocktail which were excellent in the Tulum Heat. Then after smelling the stone oven work its magic we had our pizzas, my partner took a Pepperoni and I took one meat pizza with many toppings, having taken a bite of the pepperoni I would suggest to have a pizza with no more than 2 toppings as the pizza is thin and does not cook as well as it does with many toppings, thats just my preference. All in all a great experience not quite the best on Earth but the best in Tulum yes!!
