The price and quality ratio is way off in this restaurant. But let's start with the positives: The poolside ambience was really nice and the waiters were good and friendly. With the rest we were disappointed. About the drinks: We wanted to order 2 Pina coladas. The waiter told us that they had a special 2 for 3 offer for cocktails that night but that he would have to bring all 3 at once. This was pretty weird and also not something we would expect in a restaurant in this price class. So we ordered just those two. As a starter we shared a lime soup which would have been tasty if it hadn't been way too salty! As a main we ordered the octopus and slow cooked beef. The octopus came with rice and both the octopus and rice was dripping with oil. The beef with the sauce tasted boring and only came with salad. It was ok for us since we had a starter but without it it wouldn't have been a big enough portion for us. We paid almost 3000 MXN for two drinks a starter and two mains of which none was to our liking. In comparison we usually paid around 1500 MXN in our hotel restaurant and the taste and quality of the dishes were not even comparable. So we really don't get the good reviews here. I guess for some people it's just important if a location is...
Read morevery nice experience. interesting, that you can be recognized as an individual with so many tourists going through this place every year. Same works in oposite direction: Omar, who helped me with my drinks and food not only did "his job" very well, but also is an interesting person - could not have been better-thank you for your kindness and friendship in such a short time. Food: I am living in San Miguel de Allende, thus I am "used to" amazing food, NOT really created for Tourists from all around the world, but for specific individual tastes.... Furthermore, San Miguel is called one of the most expensive towns if Mexico..... Well, you have to see prices in tourist centers like Tulum, and you will think different. BUT: Considering the idea and needs of this place: very good kitchen, very good presentation, very good taste - honestly way better than I had expected.... SORRY, cannot give 5 stars for the food, as this would mean to compare it with really first class food of another set-up and needs. BUT: would I eat here again? YES, of course .... Would I recommend this food? YES, of course:-)
Well done - THANK...
Read moreWe were not hotel guests. We just decided to go there for a drink at the beach. We had just arrived to Tulum and since we are staying in a condo we were quite shocked at how difficult it was to have access to the beach. Should be ilegal how they have built right in front of the coast and claimed it as their own. Anyway, we asked them if we could leave the car somewhere, and they told us that was a typical struggle in Tulum. They had a way to take care of our car but otherwise we would need to go to a parking lot and pay 200 pesos. The valet took our keys and then they surprised us by charging 200 pesos! They took it to the parking lot!!! I felt so manipulated. Then we ordered two margaritas and two juices and paid over 900 pesos! So a short drink by the beach costed us about 60€! Not even in St Tropez or Porto Cervo we have paid that much. Scandalous! On the positive side I do have to say the place is beautiful, background music very nice, and staff very accommodating. Pity the beach was covered in seaweed! So much for a swim in crystal...
