Read moreI'm so confused about everyone saying this place is so good! I've been traveling around Mexico for the past 6+ weeks, and it's the worst restaurant and food I've eaten. I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just saying that any place else is better.
The food and the buffet, reminds me of bad "resort" food! I've been to many resorts, and this food is just bad resort food! Well, as it turns out, it IS BAD resort food.
This place is owned and operated by Xcaret. It's just a continuation of their resort. Same bad food, same bad service. That's why it's so touristic here. And why all the tour buses from Xcaret come here. There is NOTHING authentic about this place.
If you're the type of person who is scared to eat on the street or in a "foreign" country. Or is afraid to eat "local" food because you might get sick. And you travel with a suitcase, and you left it in your all inclusive resort for the day. Then this place is a DREAM for you!
Pretend you're in Mexico eating typical food. All while feeling "safe" knowing the local tour operator at the resort you were staying in recommended this place. If you're that person, then you'll give this place 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a good Mexican restaurant with good food, go...

I usually avoid buffets but this one i enjoyed for specific reasons. This was my first visit to Mexico and it allowed me to try all the local dishes at one sitting instead of painfully going from places to places trying to sample all the local flavors. Not the best food you might argue but I was totally satisfied with the quality and quantity. I did try a few restaurants prior to coming and I was not disappointed.
Perhaps the most memorable for me was the setting and the environment of the whole set up that was a 5 star experience. Valladolid is a quaint town and it totally made my 2.5hr drive all the way worthwhile. The restaurant is located next to a traditional courtyard which I can only imagine in the past watching Zorro?!
The church like inner courtyard located by the back of the entrance is really dazzling. I spent a good 2 hours in the premises eating, soaking in the sun in the outdoor dining area and admiring the artwork of the pedestal erected by the stairs.
The price is 330 pesos inclusive of beer!!!
The buffet was...
