This is a Gem in Budva. We never imagined that we'd find our favorite Chinese restaurant in Montenegro, but Shanghai Asian Food proved us wrong. Coming from NYC, where the culinary options are endless, we were amazed at the quality and variety offered here. The restaurant features two extensive menus, one dedicated to Chinese cuisine and the other to fresh sushi.

The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, high quality, and without the heavy ingredients that often weigh down dishes at other Chinese restaurants. We enjoyed it so much that we ended up dining here three times during our two-week stay. Thanks not only to the amazing food but also to the warm and wonderful staff. Igor, in particular, stood out; he's an incredible waiter who genuinely cares about the customers.

One visit coincided with a city-wide blackout. About five minutes after we sat down, the power went out, but the staff continued to take our order and prepare the food. The lights came back on just in time for us to enjoy our meal, which ended up making it a memorable experience! We were also celebrating a birthday, and we couldn't have chosen a better place to celebrate.

We chose to dine indoors in the beautifully decorated, non-smoking Asian-themed dining room upstairs. There is also abundant outdoor seating. I highly recommend this restaurant —you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. We can't wait to return on our next...

Shanghai Restaurant in Budva deceives and robs its guests! They served us cold food and reacted strangely to our request to rectify the situation. We had to call the manager, who likely wasn't a real manager or administrator. They replaced our dishes, but it didn't help! The replacement dish (or possibly the same one) was warmer on the outside but still cold inside. We didn't want to pay for these dishes, but the staff's response was inadequate. We decided to accept the situation and, of course, chose not to leave a tip for the terrible service and food.

Then, we noticed an additional charge on the bill. The waiter claimed it was a fee they charge all restaurant guests in Montenegro. Just think about it - a fee for seating in a restaurant! It turned out the waitress lied. This was an extra service charge (we took the bill and asked at a nearby restaurant about this supposed guest fee throughout Montenegro).

So here we are, hungry, angry, and disappointed by the horrible service, deciding not to leave a tip, only for the restaurant to trick us into paying it anyway! I do not recommend this...

If you are looking for Chinese food, or any east Asian food, or any FOOD for that matter, avoid this place.

I tried ordering by writing the order on Viber, but no reply. Okay, I called and asked if I could order directly from them, got a response thay they don't have delivery driver available and that I should order from Glovo, and I did.

The food arrived within the specified time frame. And then huge disappointment.

"Crispy" chicken in sweet and sour sauce was neither crispy nor sweet and sour. It was leathery and bland despite being drenched in sauce and fat. How? What do you have to do to a piece of chicken to make it so chewy?

Caramelized eggplant was also bland and bitter, yet drenched in some kind of sauce.Side of fried rice was, again, bland and dry as if it wasn't seasoned at all.

Gong bao chicken also dry and leathery and the only flavorful thing in it were the peanuts. Spring rolls were the most flavorful thing we have ordered. On top of everything, the food came lukewarm even tho the delivery shouldn't take more than 6-7 minutes and outside is...

Shanghai was a great spot for dinner, offering stunning views of the Adriatic Sea. The place was buzzing with people and had an energetic, lively atmosphere. The food was decent overall. The noodles were a bit too oily for our taste, and the portion of rice served with the beef and vegetables felt quite small compared to the main dish. On the other hand, the soup was light, flavourful and had a comforting, soothing quality. Service was noticeably slow and communication was a challenge, as most of the staff struggled with English. They do accept both card and cash, which was convenient. While the chef is Asian, suggesting a potential for authenticity; the food could still use some improvement. Interestingly, we were told that the chef doesn’t understand English, and the waitstaff cannot communicate directly with him. This creates a language barrier that makes it impossible to request adjustments like changing spice levels. So, if you have dietary restrictions or allergies, it's best to be cautious!!

Stumbled across this Chinese restaurant when walking through the center of Budva old town. After a full beach day it was just what we wanted. Now, it’s always a bit risky to go for a Chinese in a place you don’t know, and Eastern Europe doesn’t always do it justice. But after not even reading any Google reviews because we didn’t have Wi-Fi, we just decided to take the risk. The outside was really nicely decorated and had a chic modern feel to it. The restaurant was pretty full, but service was rather fast. And they had ORANGINA ☺️ We got some fried chicken and sweet and sour soup as appetizers and for our mains, gong bao chicken and Szechuan beef. For dessert, some fried bananas and ice cream just to top it all off. Everything was super flavorful, well spiced, and good portions. Honestly couldn’t fault it. Our server was kind as as well. Would return!

This much eel on a 17€ dragon roll is laughable. The food is way overpriced for what you get and didn’t taste that good. The other roll I got with spicy tuna was the same. They fill their roles with cheap shrimp tempura then put the tiniest sliver of fish on top. I expressed my disappointment with the server & no resolution was offered, only an attempt to gaslight me into thinking that’s a normal amount of eel to be on a dragon roll. Might as well have just gotten a shrimp tempura roll. The couple next to us was also disappointed with their food & sent it back. They had ordered beef spring rolls & they served it with the beef still frozen in the middle!!
