Warning about juices here
I very rarely leave reviews, but this was an awful experience. We had two cakes and two orange juices. Cakes were fine, but towards the bottom of our orange juices we noticed floating “bits” which we assumed was pulp.
It wasn’t - they were larvae type things moving around. There were dozens of them in both glasses at the bottom. We immediately let the waiters know and they just laughed and walked off. They then tried to explain it, but also tried to make us pay for the drinks - which we obviously refused. No apology given, no understanding that it was a bit gross, and the worst thing is they made us feel very silly for even bringing it to their attention - laughing with another table nearby about it. After they walked away they took ages to come back again, clearly didn’t want to deal with it.
We understand these things can happen with fresh fruit, but it was their awful response that made it worse as it felt like they were mocking us for pointing it out. Horrendous experience and zero stars for customer service. Would avoid...
Read moreWe had interactions with two members of staff; a woman who was stressed out but still pleasant and friendly and a very rude shorter bald man with a Napoleon complex. Mr Napoleon actually laid a hand on my shoulder and pushed me out of his way (this was in the bar where there was plenty of room and he could have just said excuse me), his attitude towards everyone was distaste and he snapped at everyone aggressively.
We were present during a concert in the square and he stormed around like it was our fault he had to work that night. At one point I witness an incident with him where a girl entered the bar and asked for a glass with ice. After a dramatic sigh he grabbed a HANDFUL of ice with his HAND and flung it in a glass before giving it to her. To say we were shocked and disgusted was an understatement.
While I appreciate over tourism is a problem in Kotor and he may hate his job, his outward contempt towards others ruined our experience, so I would recommend any other cafe in the old town than bringing your...
Read moreI unfortunately experienced racism at this cafe today. I am a mixed race American who came into this cafe after hearing about their delicious cakes. I arrived in a tour group with a few others (Asians and other white European). I was not treated as well as my fellow travelers. The waiter barely gave me any attention, looked me up and down several times, and was not timely with my order or request for the check. He never said anything derogatory but I could feel it in my bones he was treating me badly due to the color of my skin. Sadly, I was the only one to leave him a tip. Why you ask? 1) because I’m a New Yorker and that’s what we do and 2) because I needed him to understand that his stereotypes are not real. It’s very unfortunate because the cake was delicious but I think it’s important to shine more light on these racists. I will be in touch with management from the café regarding this incident because I hope no one else...
