Warning about juices here

I very rarely leave reviews, but this was an awful experience. We had two cakes and two orange juices. Cakes were fine, but towards the bottom of our orange juices we noticed floating “bits” which we assumed was pulp.

It wasn’t - they were larvae type things moving around. There were dozens of them in both glasses at the bottom. We immediately let the waiters know and they just laughed and walked off. They then tried to explain it, but also tried to make us pay for the drinks - which we obviously refused. No apology given, no understanding that it was a bit gross, and the worst thing is they made us feel very silly for even bringing it to their attention - laughing with another table nearby about it. After they walked away they took ages to come back again, clearly didn’t want to deal with it.

We understand these things can happen with fresh fruit, but it was their awful response that made it worse as it felt like they were mocking us for pointing it out. Horrendous experience and zero stars for customer service. Would avoid...

We had interactions with two members of staff; a woman who was stressed out but still pleasant and friendly and a very rude shorter bald man with a Napoleon complex. Mr Napoleon actually laid a hand on my shoulder and pushed me out of his way (this was in the bar where there was plenty of room and he could have just said excuse me), his attitude towards everyone was distaste and he snapped at everyone aggressively.

We were present during a concert in the square and he stormed around like it was our fault he had to work that night. At one point I witness an incident with him where a girl entered the bar and asked for a glass with ice. After a dramatic sigh he grabbed a HANDFUL of ice with his HAND and flung it in a glass before giving it to her. To say we were shocked and disgusted was an understatement.

While I appreciate over tourism is a problem in Kotor and he may hate his job, his outward contempt towards others ruined our experience, so I would recommend any other cafe in the old town than bringing your...

I unfortunately experienced racism at this cafe today. I am a mixed race American who came into this cafe after hearing about their delicious cakes. I arrived in a tour group with a few others (Asians and other white European). I was not treated as well as my fellow travelers. The waiter barely gave me any attention, looked me up and down several times, and was not timely with my order or request for the check. He never said anything derogatory but I could feel it in my bones he was treating me badly due to the color of my skin. Sadly, I was the only one to leave him a tip. Why you ask? 1) because I’m a New Yorker and that’s what we do and 2) because I needed him to understand that his stereotypes are not real. It’s very unfortunate because the cake was delicious but I think it’s important to shine more light on these racists. I will be in touch with management from the café regarding this incident because I hope no one else...

In June 2024, we discovered this charming spot in the heart of Kotor and ended up going there two days in a row. On our first visit, we were warmly welcomed by a lovely waitress named Denise, who recommended their specialty, the Dobrotska torta — a rich almond and liqueur cake (€5.5 per slice). It was absolutely delicious! The next day, we returned to try Kotorska Krempita (€4 per slice), a local favorite. It reminded us of a Turkish-style mille-feuille: layers of delicate pastry with smooth cream in between, topped with powdered sugar. Light, sweet, and simply perfect. When I asked Denise to take a photo of me and my son, she happily joined the frame with us. Upon learning that we were from Turkey, she even asked how to say “Good morning” and “Thank you” in Turkish — and repeated them back with a smile:)

Amazing cakes right next to the sea gate entrance! Had to stop by after the Moskva cake (fruit cake with pineapple, sour cherry and almonds) came highly highly recommended by our tour guide. The fruits are apparently fresh from the region! We also ordered the Coko (chocolate, sweet cream) cake after it came as the most recommended chocolate cake by our waiter. Cakes are pretty sweet (for my Asian taste palette) so recommend a cappuccino to pair. Note their “ice coffees” here are frappuccinos in USA, some with ice cream. I noticed many tourists were surprised. Cakes were 5.50€ each and coffee/lattes were 3-4€. Seat yourself with table service, fast and friendly! Highly recommend!

[What Did We Have?] We had coffee and their signature layered cream cake. The cake was incredibly fresh, with a delicate puff pastry texture and a not-too-sweet cream. A perfect pairing with a well-balanced cup of coffee. [Price] Fair and reasonable. You get good value for the portion size and quality. [Service] Service was quick and polite. Staff made sure everything was smooth from order to table. [Atmosphere] Lovely outdoor seating with a relaxed vibe. Great spot to enjoy your coffee while watching the street life. [Overall Impression] Perfect for a mid-day dessert break or a peaceful coffee moment. Definitely a place I’d return to!
