Passing through the Sea Gate in Kotor, Montenegro, is like stepping into a living museum. Inside the Old Town, visitors are greeted with a maze of cobblestone streets and medieval architecture. Highlights include the stunning St. Tryphon Cathedral, with its Romanesque design and ornate interior, and the fascinating Maritime Museum, where Kotor's seafaring history comes alive.

The Clock Tower in the main square is a charming landmark, while a hike up to the Kotor Fortress offers adventurous visitors panoramic views of the Bay of Kotor, making the steep climb worthwhile.

Beyond the town, Perast offers baroque beauty and island excursions to Our Lady of the Rocks. Lovcen National Park provides breathtaking landscapes and historical significance with the Njegoš Mausoleum. For a change of pace, Budva's beaches and vibrant nightlife are just a short drive away.

Old town is well preserved by UNESCO. The clock tower is leaning similar to Pisa leaning tower in Italy. In front of the belly tower has the pyramids shape like metal, that is a hall of Shame to embarrass people hi did something wrong at that time. It is worst than being in jail at that time. The street name here is based on Number as they are afraid that they may forget some important names of people. There are one restaurants with the water pipe, that one is called gossip square as housewives in the past were there to get water and washes clothes. The cathedral was a mix between catholic and Orthodox Church as they worked collaboratively to fight against Ottoman Empire. On the second floor of the church, you will find...

The Sea Gate is the main entrance to Kotor’s Old Town and a must-see for any visitor. Built in 1555 during Venetian rule, this historic gateway welcomes you into a maze of charming cobblestone streets, medieval buildings, and lively squares. As you pass through, take a moment to admire the well-preserved fortifications and the inscriptions on the gate, including a tribute to Montenegro’s liberation during World War II. Arriving early in the morning or late in the afternoon helps avoid crowds and allows for stunning photos. From here, start your journey through Kotor’s UNESCO-listed Old Town, filled with history, culture, and...

The Sea Gate (Vrata od Mora), built in 1555, is the grand main entrance to Kotor's UNESCO-listed Old Town in Montenegro. Its massive stone arch frames the historic coat of arms of the Republic of Ragusa, with a carved Virgin Mary and saints above the Latin inscription. Flanked by the Clock Tower and Arsenal, this Renaissance gateway marks the start of the Square of the Arms and welcome visitors into centuries of Venetian charm.

The main entrance to the city. A gate from 1555. You'll notice Venetian symbols (then under Venetian rule), but also the communist star added after the city's liberation from the Nazis, and the words of Yugoslav leader Tito: "We don't want others, we don't give our own" – a reference to the occupation era.
