Unfortunately I can't report anything too positive about this place - the reviews lured us in, but clearly its golden days are over. The food was just okay - felt a little scammy as they carry themselves as the finer dining side of things in Kotor - and yet we've eaten much better at the more reasonably priced fish places in town. Our main was grilled octopus with various garnishes. The octopus was well cooked. However, my partner's side was bland, whereas the aubergine in my Mediterranean vegetable garnish was undercooked - cold and raw in the inside. (When mentioned to the waiter, he pretty much shrugged). Also, not enough garnish on the plate. So, it was a shame to pay €23 each for a dish that felt both incomplete and poorly executed. The deserts were reasonably priced but again nothing too exciting + coffee was average. We were charged €4.50 for water - this felt purposefully extortionate - more expensive than many of the spirits on the menu, and brought and poured straight from the bottle, though we had asked for table water. This could have been a misunderstanding, but when the waiter brought our bill, we had been overcharged for three coffees not two. As the bill is in Montenegrin, I wouldn't be surprised to find out this is regular practice. Again, all speculative, but since service wasn't the warmest, we haven't been led to feel otherwise. Save yourself your travel funds and eat at one of the many other (confirmed brilliant) places in and...
Read moreThe restaurant view is beautiful. The plating is well done, but unfortunately for my husband and I - the taste and service was not worth the visit. I got the prawn soup. Was ok, but could've tasted more like saffron and needed a touch of salt. I ordered the salmon for dinner and my husband ordered the tuna. My husband's tuna was ok but was pretty dry. My salmon tasted like nothing at all. Tasted like cardboard. We told the waiter, Dragomir, and he started raising his voice saying what do you want me to do. And wouldn't really let us talk. He was very rude and not once apologized. It was almost as if he didn't believe us. He said he would have the kitchen make it again. The second time it was much better. Better piece, better temperature, but the skin was like eating a mouth of salt. Never apologized or offered to make it up to us in any way. I told him that he shouldn't be agitated, that I was just telling him the problem with my meal, and he said not agitated just surprised. We've never had an issue. It's not our fault. It could be the salmon, it's imported it's not from here.
All in all - an off night. I would not go back or suggest this place to others. It's...
Read moreGreat service, delicious food, a great view and moderate prices. My boyfriend and I shared two starters (beetroot with goats cheese and octopus tartine). The tartine was exceptionally good; the beetroot lacked a spicy kick, but was nevertheless tasty. We then shared a black risotto with squid, which was good. However, we were missing the taste of squid, which was only very latent. As a main course my boyfriend had the lamb, which scored with the rich and very well spiced sauce (flavor of yellow boletus). I had the prime beef, which was excellent. I ordered the meat medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. A mustardy sauce on top, beetroot puree, grilled vegetables and a potatoe spring roll on the side were the perfect match. Accompanying our food we had a bottle of montenegrin wine, which was good. All in all, we had a lovely evening and I can definitely recommend this restaurant. Not only food was great but also the service was excellent. Prices are moderate but it's definitely worth spending your money here, rather than in the (in my opinion) overpriced old town...
