This could have been a 5-star review, but our second visit left us disappointed. During our first visit, we were served by an older waiter who resolved every issue, and we had a fantastic dinner with wine, dessert, and cocktails.

A week later, we returned, but this time we were seated in a different section and served by a younger waiter. As a wine recommendation, he suggested the cheapest option on the list. We didn’t trust his judgment and chose something else. The meat was served before the knives, and the sauce that was included last week wasn’t brought out until we asked for it. Throughout the entire dinner, we had to keep asking for things. The waiter and the staff seemed rushed, and everything took far too long.

That said, the meat on our second visit was even better than the first—absolutely divine. Then came dessert, which was delicious, but the cocktails were a letdown. The first cocktail, a Margarita, had no trace of alcohol (mind you, we ordered the same ones as the previous week). We asked the waiter to fix it, and he returned saying he had added alcohol. For the second cocktail, a Cuba Libre, it was served in the same type of glass as the Margarita—perhaps clean, but still unprofessional for a place of this level.

When the bill arrived, we noticed the sauce for the meat was charged as an extra. We asked for an explanation, and when I specifically asked, "Has something changed in the past week?" the waiter replied, "Here, we change things every day." This is unacceptable for a restaurant of this standard.

We eventually had the sauce removed from the bill. When we paid, the waiter walked away without a word and didn’t even say goodbye—extremely rude in my opinion.

(Final note: photos from the first and second...

From reading reviews, I had high expectations, however, it was awful!

Firstly, upon arrival we waited at least 10 minutes to even receive menus after being seated. The couple behind us arrived quite some time after us but immediately received their menus and drinks before we even got our menus. After we got our menus we had to wait at least another 10 minutes before anyone came back to take our order, meanwhile, the couple behind us were having their food brought over. At this point we were debating to leave, which we should have.

When the food finally arrived, I can say it was quite nice until I found what I believed was plastic. We waited a while for the waiter to come back over which didn’t happen until we had finished our food, no one came over to check on us and our food at all. When the waiter eventually took our plates he still didn’t ask how the food was so I had to mention I had found plastic in my food. He told me it was shrimp, even though I ordered bolognaise which doesn’t contain fish (which I had to tell him), he then replied “oh” and took the rest of our plates away. I never received an apology at any point and the issue was never even addressed again. We never received kind service, not even a thank you, despite being continuously polite with please and thank yous. Is it because we’re white british?? Put my mood down for the rest of my night whilst I’m meant to be enjoying my holiday,...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5-Star Review for Playa Restaurant and Our Incredible Waiter, Sufyan. We had the pleasure of dining at Playa multiple times for both lunch and dinner over several days, and every single experience was exceptional. The restaurant itself is beautiful—stylish, welcoming, and located in a perfect spot to relax and enjoy delicious food. But what truly made our visits unforgettable was the incredible service from our waiter, Sufyan. From day one, he went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. He remembered our preferences, gave spot-on recommendations, and was consistently friendly, attentive, and professional. His warm attitude and genuine hospitality made us feel like valued guests, not just customers. Every meal we had was fantastic. The quality and presentation of the food were top-notch—fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and a menu that offered great variety. Whether it was lunch or dinner, everything was consistently delicious. After several days of dining at Playa, we left with full hearts and happy memories. Thanks to Sufyan and the whole team, Playa became one of the highlights of our trip. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food, a relaxed atmosphere, and truly outstanding service.

We’ll...

We had the pleasure of having our first Sunday lunch in Agadir at this amazing restaurant. Having just arrived in country the night before. We picked this restaurant based purely on it's trip advisor reviews. I must say we were not disappointed. The location is great. Beside the beach with a lovely view. Although a little breezy, lots of glass windbreak around the restaurant. The tables are well set and presented. The restaurant is impeccably clean with all fresh linen, spotless cutlery and glasses. Our waiter ws courteous, attentive but not overbearing. He correctly assessed we were in no rush and managed our service accordingly. The French influence in Morocco is not to be understated. The cuisine is amazing. Attention to detail from everything from the bread through to the wine and desserts. I enjoyed a Fillet steak with peppercorn and mushroom sauce. It ws cooked to medium rare perfection. My wife had the Lamb skewers, also cooked perfectly. Our dessert was a chocolate faundant. Soft and so tasty. We enjoyed Moroccan red wine with the meal. Pretty much as good as any French wine. The coffee was spectacular with a nice armagnac to accompany. Our bill approx 70 GBP. There is full disabled access, great lighting in or out. Can't wait to return.

I went to this restaurant at 2pm when there weren’t a lot of guests. I sat down at a table by the window. The waiter immediately told me to move to a different table because he said other guests will be coming. There was hardly anyone there. I told him I was a paying client, and I wasn’t going to move to a lesser tablet. From 2:00-3:30, there were still other EMPTY tables by the window. Just because I am a single woman traveling by myself, a man doesn’t get to be rude to me. Nope, this queen never moved her butt from that window seat. The seafood paella was so so. They only put ONE shrimp in this dish, how stingy. The rice was not well cooked either. Overall, subpar service. The waiter was the older male server there of all the servers. Rude attitude. Never going back for both the subpar food and subpar service. I was originally giving this a 3-star. But after speaking to the manager, who with his plain eyes can see that there was hardly anyone there at the restaurant, insisted that he was right and I was wrong. Now there is your ONE STAR you rightly deserve.

The highlight is the seafront location, together with plants and glass screens surrounding the restaurant to hit the sweet spot between enjoying the view and having some privacy. Professional and attentive service, even if superficial, is definitely a plus. Foodwise, mixed feelings: fish tajine was good but lamb tajine below expectations: a bit stringy, chewy and bland (the meat itself, despite the other ingredients). For this price it's a disappointment (2 tajins, 2 glasses house wine = 350MAD). Also, if you don't like cigarette smoke, bear in mind that a lot of guests smoke here and the busy tables aren't far apart. The last point I'm not sure about: the head waiter brought the wrong change, which was strange. I left most of it as a tip anyway.
