Fanatic Café-Restaurant — Restaurant in Essaouira

Ordered the fish of the day which was John Dory, firstly the waiter quoted a price double that of the other fish options on the menu which I negotiated down but was still on the high side. I asked for it to come with fries instead of the rice and vegetables, he brought it out with the rice and vegetables still and about 10 fries… can count them… very stingy and not what I wanted / ordered. Also ordered a drink and they forgot to bring it to me and had to ask two waiters for salt and pepper and only the second finally brought it. As other reviews indicate they say cash only although they have a card machine, when I respond I don’t have cash they say ok we will try and see if it works… clearly there is no issue with their card machine, it works perfectly, not sure what the scheme is here, maybe tax evasion or some other kind of scheme to keep some of the cash for themselves, but either way not pleasant. Overall could be much better. A better experience had at M Beach just 2...

The best thing you can get here, is probably the view. Although, I’ve have to take my hat off for the magic in their kitchen: how you can make so many ingredients taste like the same thing or nothing is actually pretty impressive

We, halfway through our meal (veggie tagine and salad nicoise) asked for a bottle of water, as we had finished our drinks (hey, cheap beers btw). We managed to finished our food before the bottle of water arrived, but that only gave us more time to enjoy the view of the ocean.

Although we never actually asked for the bill, it magically occurred on our table, with a ‘kind reminder’ to pay for the service also. 175MAD for food and drinks. I put 200 on table, but never got any change back. I asked another waiter to bring back my change, before I fairly paid 1MAD for the splendid service

Ok, so we drove about 3 hours from Marrakesh to have real good seafood with sea view The whole town has nothing to offer honestly It was a waste of time and energy and i highly don't recommend it Now about this restaurant I can say, one of the worst seafood I've ever had The seafood was fresh and good quality The way they prepared it was horrible Can you imagine fried shrimp with the shells ? Not even cleaned! Portions were not big enough And finally they asked us to pay in USD! Then claimed the visa machine is not working and we should pay in cash only - after we confirmed in the beginning that we have catd only (as it is an issue in Morocco obviously ) So, no i don't recommend tourist scamming places like this ..
