I am absolutely thrilled with my lunch at Amal, a women-run social enterprise restaurant located in Marrakesh’s Ville Nouvelle. The garden setting is meticulously designed, from the Arabic calligraphy painted on the walls to the stunning cedar tree at the center of the patio. The menu changes daily and always includes at least one vegetarian option. Each dish is carefully crafted, blending Moroccan tradition with a modern twist.
The glazed vegetables (60DH) were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor, while the goat cheese salad (65DH) left me speechless: the nut-crusted goat cheese paired beautifully with the avocado cream, which was artfully piped onto the plate. The kitchen’s attention to detail is evident in touches like the basil oil used to dress the side salad.
The vegetable tagine, reminiscent of a ratatouille in the way the vegetables were sliced, was generous and delicious. Even the desserts didn’t disappoint: the molten chocolate cake (35DH) with caramel had a gooey center worthy of "food porn," and the lemon cake (40DH) was equally delightful.
I also highly recommend the homemade mint lemonade, which was refreshingly zesty. The waitresses were friendly and professional, and they accept card payments. Supporting a project like this is well worth the trip. I’ll be recommending it...
