Review: Disappointing Experience at Beldi Restaurant – 07.08.25
We visited Beldi Restaurant on Thursday evening, August 7th, 2025, around 9 PM. Upon arrival, we had to wait outside for nearly 15 minutes before a staff member approached us and informed us there was "stress in the kitchen" and that it might take around 40 minutes to get a table. Despite the wait, we decided to stay and eventually got seated after the time mentioned.
We ordered two drinks and two starters, which were quite nice. However, the experience took a turn with the mains. I ordered the Chicken Skewers, which were served on a tray of coal. Unfortunately, the chicken was already overcooked before it even reached the table—extremely dry, lacking any flavor, and difficult to eat. The chips that came with it were also dry and greasy.
My partner ordered the Spaghetti Parmigiana, which was served cold and smothered in an excessive amount of cheese. It was bland, unappetizing, and she could barely eat a quarter of it.
During our meal, one of the female managers came by to ask about our experience. We told her honestly that it wasn’t good and explained everything that had gone wrong. Her response was rather dismissive—she said we should have spoken up earlier, but we had tried multiple times to get the staff’s attention without success. At that point, we were already quite hungry from the long wait.
What bothered us most was that instead of addressing our concerns, the manager seemed more focused on getting us to leave a review on their website. She insisted we scan a QR code and write the review immediately—while we were still eating. It felt pushy and inappropriate, especially considering the circumstances.
In hindsight, we should have trusted our instincts and left after hearing the staff repeatedly mention how "stressed" the kitchen was. We gave it a chance to experience the place, but unfortunately, it’s not somewhere we would recommend or return to.
We also noticed several complaints from other tables, including issues with undercooked food. Some guests even left early, visibly...
Read moreFirst opportunity to welcome diners failed completely, the girl at the entrance desk was laid back in a chair and using her phone. No attempt at customer service. No attempt to say hello or anything. She needs training or to be sacked. Luckily a cheerful guy appeared and invited me to take a table. I was surprised to see a children’s play area immediately at the front of the restaurant and I was wondering if I made the correct choice in eating here. Decided to sit as far from the that area as I could. Good that I did. Lots of children running and jumping and screaming. Nobody was sat outside on the terrace, probably because of the dust and noise from the road construction project and also the road traffic. Pity really as I would have liked to have sat there. The menu was a QR code but it was overwhelming to use, turning the electronic pages. A waiter rescued me by bringing a paper menu. Wow, never in all my years eating at restaurants around the world have I seen a menu so big - over 102 pages. After what seemed ages I was able to make a selection. The food didn’t arrive quickly which I took as a good sign, that it was made to order fresh, and no microwave. The decor was nice and there were many staff working busily. More diners kept arriving, slowly filling up. The lentil soup was good, even served a hard boiled egg in its shell. The salad was a disaster, I left most of it. For me it looked like three different salads in one bowl and the flavours didn’t work. The lamb dish was amazing, I liked it a lot, worth the long wait. Mint tea was delicious and I’ve never seen it poured three times like they do in this restaurant. Not sure it adds anything other than a performance for the diner. Service was kind and attentive, some waiters spoke English. Prices...
Read moreI have arrived at 11:30 got seated and ordered my food then I was ready to pay at 12:30, 1 hour is all you need to arrive, order, eat and pay 🙂 mentioning this as I know there are a lot of people who are traveling and they are looking for a place where they can order food in a fast way, I admit that I was amazed about the speed of the service…!
Nevertheless, the speed is one thing but the efficiency is another thing. I received my tea before the breakfast, as a Moroccan we prefer our tea to be hot while we eat.. once the breakfast arrived, the tea was already cold, I asked the waiter to warm it and apparently he forgot it and I ended up eating my breakfast without tea (especially I ordered traditional breakfast so tea is a must 🙃😊, he eventually got me the tea but at the end of my breakfast and not boiled as expected…)
The bread basket contains bread that looks different from the picture, saying I prefer to get brown flower bread or another type as showing in the picture (more healthy option), but I only got white flower bread, I ended up not eating it… luckily, I got Batbot bread as well :)
The eggs was good and cooked nicely, the Mellaoui was cold as well and hard to eat :( I have received a Bissara soup but again the waiter forgot to give me the spoon 🥄, I have asked him but apparently he forgot me and I ended up drinking my Bissara directly from the bowl 🥣… The carrot juice was nice 👍🏼
Generally, the experience was not bad but requires some efficiency to make it better… I’m surely going to visit the place again and I hope this will improve :) I love the atmosphere, the design as well as the decoration. The team were smily, kind and easy going … the food quality and the service were not bad but it could be better ❤️
See you...
