We've dined at Malahs' restaurant multiple times, and while the food ranged from passable to pretty decent, the service was a whole other story.
Let's break down our experiences chronologically. Just a heads-up, we're pretty darn sure it's specifically Malahs' restaurant we're talking about, not one of its neighbors. Since they seem to take reviews rather personally, and even stoop to insulting folks who leave negative ones, we figured we'd give the staff a chance to address each constructive criticism individually.
Dinner 1.1 We waited an eternity to be served. 1.2 Half of the menu was missing for half of us. 1.3 Parts of our order never showed up, which the waiter hilariously noticed at the end with a chuckle.
Breakfast, on another day 2.1 Service again took ages. 2.2 After finally taking our order, the waitress returned a mere 3 minutes later to inform us that our chosen breakfast options weren't available due to Ramadan closures which wasn't a big deal and we quickly settled for some of the "available" options. 2.3 But when our food arrived we had to find out that half of the promised menu was playing hide and seek too. We weren't sure if it was due to missing food or just plain bad service that the missing half never arrived. Upon inquiry, Ramadan got the blame again. 2.4 No replacements were offered, but of course, we still had the privilege of paying the full price.
Dinner, the final one 3.1 Yet again, excruciatingly long waiting times. You'd think we'd be used to it by now. It's a bit perplexing though, considering there were roughly as many staff members (5) as there were customers (6). 3.2 Today, all orders arrived, albeit some of the food was undercooked. 3.3 What caught our eye tonight was the staff's misplaced priorities - instead of serving customers, they were more interested in strong-arming them into leaving (positive) reviews. Maybe it's time to remind the folks at Malah that good service tends to attract praise naturally, without resorting to coercion... The food isn't really the issue, you see.
PS: To all you curious readers out there, feel free to sift through the reviews of the past days/weeks/months and see if you spot any...
Read moreContrary to all the good reviews here and the exquisite culinary taste and customer service they pretend to have in all these reviews they replied to, we had a very bad time here We were a big group and had to wait a lot for our food. 3 of us had to wait even 3h after everyone else had finished with their food Dishes were obviously not brought in the same time We had 2 waiters which got half of our order wrong - forgot dishes, brought the wrong order (ie vegetable tagine instead of chicken, mint tea instead of milk tea) The main waitress we had straight up lied to our faces about getting the correct order whilst bringing other stuff On top of that, both her and the other waiter that were serving us kept laughing at us and the situation instead of being apologetic We also noticed smaller groups of people coming who also had to wait 2h for their food After all this wait, our food comes, the fries are undercooked and greasy, the chicken is overcooked and super hard We had to eat it in the end, after 3h of starving and because all the other places around were...
Read moreI decided to try this restaurant after the positive reviews I saw and I was not disappointed. My first (of 3 visits) during my time in Marrakech consisted of me ordering the nicoise salad which is absolutely delicious. The salad was extremely fresh, packed out (can easily be a lunch or dinner and not a snack) and had a delicious dressing (all for 55 MAD which is around £5). It was just so fresh and packed out that I felt totally nourished in the June/July heat of Marrakech. I returned a couple of days later for their breakfast which was also delicious and more than enough for one person (you could share it!). On my third visit I had to get the nicoise salad again as I was really craving it and once again it was exceptional and nourishing. I literally love this place it's such great value for money, the staff are so friendly and it's in a nice spot out of the way of the business but still in an active area with a vibe. A new favourite of mine in Marrakech. Thank you guys...
