It is very rarely that an occasion comes about where I don't have a single positive thing to say about a restaurant, other than that the food was hot (which in my eyes is actually just the absence of a negative).
Skybar in Marrakech new town was unfortunately one of those occasions, after being lured in by the pretty setting and swimming pool overlooking the city, we sat down to surly staff taking our order of eight coca colas, for which we waited roughly fifteen minutes.
I understand that some restaurants and bars prefer customers that drink alcohol, as it is more expensive, but in a half empty bar on a Tuesday night you would hope that they would look past this and prioritise a large party for a drinks order if there was need to at all.
The food followed suit, after waiting for half an hour our tapas orders came....well most of them did, with some things missing and others we hadn't asked for. Incorrect orders were the least of our disappointments, the prawns were cooked long enough to reduce them to gumshields, the cheeseboard had evidently been left out for a sit (going off of the hardened edges on the cheddar and skin that had formed on the brie) and the beef carpaccio tasted more akin to tap water than food, with the slathering of pesto on top not saving this. The only saving grace of this situation was that it wasn't expensive, but this does not mean that it was cheap.
The views of the magnificent cityscape are immense from this building, and I'm sure if you ordered drinks to sip on the pool overlooking this, you would enjoy your visit to Skybar more than us, as the setting is glorious but do not depend on receiving decent fare of the solid kind.
At least the...
Read moreFirst of all, once you enter there was a man and girl at the entrance, the man was extremely rude, 0 customer service manners whatsoever. I heard the waiters call him manager later on. Which also explains why some of the staff were not pleasant with the guests and talking back to people not in a nice way when they asked for drinks… It almost feels like they’re doing you a favor by having you here, and not a service you’re paying for.
Now let’s talk about the food. It was almost inedible, the Moroccan Harira tasted horrible, almost all food that was cooked tasted plaine. Absolutely not recommended for Moroccan food nor Ramadan iftar.
The 2 stars im giving are only because of the view and the amazing sunset. So if you go my advice is to go for a drink...
