Himalayan Java Coffee - Bhaktapur — Restaurant in Bhaktapur Municipality

I recently visited Himalayan Java Coffee Bhaktapur, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite spots! The ambiance is warm and inviting, with cozy seating and soft lighting that’s perfect for everything from a solo study session to a casual meetup with friends.

The coffee is top-notch. I tried the cappuccino , and it was absolutely delicious—smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. They clearly take their coffee seriously, and you can taste the difference in every sip. The baristas are mainly Sunita Bashyal knowledgeable and friendly, always happy to offer recommendations or customize your order to make sure it’s just right.

Beyond the coffee, they have a great selection of pastries and light snacks. I tried the , and it was fresh and flavorful, a great complement to my drink.

There are several restaurants within the Bhaktupar Durbar Square that offer you nice window and rooftop views of the Nyatapola Temple and surrounding. Himalayan Java Coffee seemed to have prime central location directly across from the temple. On the $$$ side but if you are foreigner and need to pay $14 USD / 1,600 NPR to enter, you might as well enjoy the view and splurge a bit more.

It had 4 floors, where 4th being the rooftop. Lots of seating options based on your need - temple / rooftop balcony view, quiet view / indoor view, or outdoor view. Personally I found the balcony seats in the balcony on the rooftop to be uncomfortable and awkward for eating.

The bruschetta was very delicious - we devoured so it quickly.

The staff were all courteous and prompt. At times it felt staff heavy.

I was curious about the setting of this place instead of coffee. It’s in nice location. Also, the multiple stories here make it more interesting place to visit. I was there with my laptop for some work. The internet was good. The waitress came right in, which is great. The service is on time. Liked it!

I was expecting a glass of water but I didn’t get it. May be they don’t give a glass of water to customers for free or whatever. Price is okay! Reasonable!

My request: Please provide a glass of water whenever a customer comes in. I know you want your customers to buy a bottle of water but there’s no loss in giving a cup of water.

Also, the music was very loud. I was expecting a smooth sound but the speakers were loud. Please work...
