Great location, agreeable terrace but noisy bedrooms, no services and dishonest management !!! I booked through Agoda and spent 5 nights in this hostel which went through some management trouble due to the Covid and lack of clients. I had been the only guest. Great location BUT: booking can't be canceled decent bedrooms (for 14 $) are only on the last floor (avoid the tiny ugly single ones with no bathroom for 9 $) room # 115 has a partial view on Durbar square but the noises from a nearby restaurant and dogs barking and fighting all night long among Durbar monuments are intolerable. I changed for the less noisy room # 117 -- no breakfasts available (there is only an expensive korean restaurant serving diner on the 1st floor), no room-cleaning, no supply of water bottles. transfer to the airport for 1200 roupies they first refused my payment by credit card when I left (despite having been accepted through Agoda) and then asked me to pay an extra charge for it at a neighbouring shopkeeper they canceled the booking on Agoda, pretending a "no-show", probably to save the fees they should have paid Conclusion: too expensive for what it is; the place should be avoided because the new management has to learn to be professional and honest and during the low-season in Nepal it is much better to come directly and discuss room and prices and not to...
Read moreWe spent 3 nights in this hotel . The staff is very gentle and they reserve always a warm welcome . The roof top terrace is amazing and you can enjoy the view of Bhaktapur since is Located behind the Durbar Square. They have very nice rooms with Durbar Square view but be careful of the number 109 . We've been just for one night it was cozy but very humid and cold since the sun never touch it. The hotel was empty so we asked to be moved into another room but the try to charge us more money we were about to go but eventually they agree to give us the room with the same price. But they asked us to cancel the reservation trough booking.com maybe to save the commission fees or not to have a bad review but we really have a pleasant stay . Last thing do not book the room with share bathroom it's cheap but the bathroom it's at the ground floor while the rooms are in the second and the third . |The hotel is very stilish a little bit old an would need a refreshment but as I already said staff and service good. We did not try the breakfast since the prices inside were expensier than just one...
Read moreI stayed in Golden Gate Guesthouse for 5 nights having found the perfect town to explore and relax in after travelling to Kathmandu, Pokhara and Bhandipur. ||||Bhaktipur really is a quaint and fascinating town with so much to see. It oozes atmosphere.||||This guesthouse was by far the best I stayed in during my two weeks in off-season Nepal. I had the guesthouse all to myself and a lovely spacious room with superb bed and view of World Heritage buildings from my window and balcony. The owner and staff were friendly, flexible and helpful throughout my stay.||||The location cannot be beaten, so close to the famous Durbar Square up the alley, and so close to atmospheric and other-worldly Taumadhi Square just down the alley the other way. It is also very quiet apart from the occasional outbreak of barking by local dogs. No other noise as it is in a car-free area of town.||||The shower was strong and hot, and my room was promptly cleaned when I requested it after a few nights.||||I would not hesitate to highly recommend this place if you are looking for great value for money...
