We went for lunch here, food and server were great that we decided to go back second day.
When we got there it was a bit busy, but we found a table for four. It hasn't been cleaned up yet and had two half glasses of water from the previous patrons. We waited for a while for a server to come. We didn't mind since it was busy and the server we had the day before was great. Then one of the servers came, her name was JENNY. We said hi, and nicely mentioned that the glasses with water were not ours. JENNYs response in a stern and non smiling face.... " I KNOW" Then we proceeded to order, frist drinks. My wife asked for the same meal we ordered before, but stopped us and said (again in a rude manner) "can you guys order drinks first?" Okkkk. She could've taken the order, and later on maybe ask what we wanted to drink. THEN SHE LEFT WITHOUT TAKING THE USED GLASSES from the previous patrons that sat on our table.
Our food came after waiting a while. The whole time she NEVER came once, to check if we needed anything else or how things were going. Meanwhile, she checked on the two other tables beside us at least 4 or 5 times each, with all smiles asking how they were doing.
We finished our meals, then waited for a long time again. We had to flag her down to ask for our bill. Again, waited a long time to get it. We paid cash, asked for change as it was a large denomination. Again, waited for a long time.
Then another server came and dropped the change, almost just threw them on the table without saying anything. That server was also quite rude, we didn't get her name, she was black, with braids.
Overall the food was great, server the day before was great, very pleasant and friendly.
Unfortunately the second visit wasn't as great as server for a reason we don't know chose to be very unpleasant to us.
It's not fair for the other folks that work there and get a bad rap because of the other unpleasant servers.
I would come back here but would hope we don't get...
Read moreBugaloe Beach Bar and Cafe, located at the end of De Palm Pier, is a good place to visit when you want to enjoy a view of the beautiful water of Aruba and resort lined beach.
It is what you would expect it to be and this is not a criticism. It is open air. The decor and construction are “beach rustic”. The atmosphere is beach casual.
As you enter the space occupied by Bugaloe at pier’s end, the bar is to your left. Tables with chairs and some counters with seats occupy the remainder of the space. Most are shaded but you can find spots in the sun too.
The menu has plenty of seafood which I expected considering the location on a beach on a resort island! However, they also offered burgers, hot dogs, steaks, various appetizers too. A well rounded menu with local dishes too!
Though we didn’t try it, they are open for breakfast and have an appropriate menu for that.
What we had: Bugaloe Crab Cakes and Camarones Picante.
I enjoyed the crab cakes even though I found them pretty standard. Standard on the good side! A crispy light breading surrounded the tasty crab mixed with onions, green peppers, and red peppers. There was a minimal amount of filler/binding, which is a big plus in my opinion. The sweet hot chili sauce was tasty too, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Their Camarones Picante was the stand out. 5 decently sized grilled shrimp in an extremely flavorful sauce with a bit of zing to it. Not overly hot, but deliciously spiced. It came with s section of baguette and we were happy about that as we wanted to soak up and enjoy every drop of that sauce.
They offer a full bar. Their beer selection is fairly limited, but most should find a familiar brand.
Don’t be in a hurry. Enjoy the gorgeous view. That is what really makes a stop at Bugaloe worthwhile. I’d go...
Read moreMy spouse and I have been going to the Bugaloe since 2004 when we were in Aruba on our honeymoon. Until this past time , we have had a great time, good food, good music, good service. Fast forward to Wednesday May 17th, 2023. Visiting the Bugaloe, sitting at the bar, enjoying a cold beverage, food and music. We noticed a large group of guys ( Dutch Military ) having drinks and food. We appreciate the military and support them whenever we get the chance. Freedom is not free and those that are willing to fight to preserve freedom should be appreciated and recognized. my wife and I decided to buy a round of drinks for all of these military reps and asked the bartender to take them all a shot on us. The server delivered the drinks and the guys acknowledged our gift and said thank you in various ways. Almost immediately the service we received became non existent. Not sure why. but we had a very difficult time getting service, food and drinks. This continued until we finally gave up and decided to leave. Servers ignored us and would not even look at us to get us drinks. Not sure what happened but we did not deserve this treatment and will not recommend this place to others as we do every time we come to this island....... there are many bars and restaurants to choose from and we now have to consider other places because I will not be treated with such disrespect from a place that is in business to provide good service to its...
