Lovely little corner café with very friendly atmosphere and staff. They went to extra lengths, to extend the seating area onto the canal itself, via terrace-extension. Lovely place to sit and have an espresso after a good meal closely or just have a coffee in the morning or afternoon. Very much appreciated the attention to detail, they put put into small things like the presentation of the menu. Prices are average for a Café generally. So nothing special there. To sum it up: great place to have a good coffee, while sitting directly on the canal with friendly staff and a brilliant view all day long. Also deserts looked insane but we were too full to try unfortunately.

Saw this place on Google maps before I went to Amsterdam, it's a traditional "brown bar" , so it's authentic Dutch, and that's what I wanted. It reminded me of an "old man's pub" at home (Ireland) and I loved it. Dark wood interior, lovely staff. Small seating area inside and outside. Seemed to sell some good beers, the bar man knew his stuff. I had tea, and drank it outside. I didn't have time to go back but I recommend you try it. It's situated on a canal so it's very scenic.

Ok, I'll now write a review then. Yes sir, it is true that I could not eat my own quite small food wrapped in white in your place and I did not eat it in your place after you pointed it out loud to be strange. I was quite surprised of that. Not a very tolerant place your cafeteria, maybe the most nontolerant I have been here. And not very clean either. My wife said there is a reason for me to do it what I'm doing and she was eating there. I also had your coffee. So, we were both paying. You did not ask either why I was eating my food there - just called it strange. I do not like the word strange in your city, because strange means here something from the moon or such. Maybe I did not have time to wait for some 20 minutes it took to get your dishes - but I waited then and ate outside my food. Quite slow service, we thought. I also found out that everything in the list was not available. Maybe 2-3 stars at this point... I didn't want to write a full review, but you are getting here what you asked for. Well, the additional reasons for 1 star: I did not like the way you were "cleaning" the pots for forks and knives, and handling them. Typically, the pots are cleaned, not blown by your mouth to get rid of something - I saw that happen few times. And you were handling pretty much all without handwash, if I saw right. And the woman making coffee was cauching without any protection towards coffee machine - that was what caught my eye. Must be nice germs in those pots, knifes, forks, and coffee cups. The coffee was not good either, to be honest - weak taste and not warm enough, poorest thus far here (have been visiting around 20 cafeteria in Amsterdam). We came there as on you had 4.5 - and were disapointed and our action there was classified strange. But don't worry, we'll not be there to make your life strange again as my wife said. Have a...

Let me tell you a story… It was a chilly evening with a sativa pot. We were walking around Jordaan, looking for some place to sit, cause it was freezing cold outside. Then Cafe tSmalle appeared on the horizon. We were lucky to find a spot for two, next to a bar. The waiter served us with two beautiful pints of Heineken in original glasses. Then, we got a taste for something hot and ordered a hot chocolate. Soon after the waiter brought us two tremendously appetizing hot chocolates, covered with a dense cloud of the whipped cream and topped with the cocoa powder. They were exquisite and the waiter was very generous with the whipped cream. I would pay every penny for this delicacy. Cafe interior was very stylish and ambient. It looked like a place with an old soul. There was even an award for the best cafe in Amsterdam 2001 hanging above my head, and let me tell you, I will vote for this cafe in 2023!!! It’s not tourist trap. It is a place to go for any occasion, for a date, for an evening with friends or for a breakup beer I will return my money to everyone who won’t like the hot chocolate. The prizes are fair. There is a floating garden above the canal, must be lovely during the summer. I think I will back to this place many many times… Sending...
