De Twee Zwaantjes — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I have never written a bad review because I empathise that people can have bad days, but today is a first time to warn others.

I went to the cafe 4 times to tell them my order. They kept forgetting it.

They got me the wrong beer. Then they got me two beers whereas I ordered one. Later, the old lady shouted about how I wasted a beer (miss, I never ordered it! And I received it after some 15 minutes of sitting and visiting you four times to remind you).

There is cheese platter on the menu. I asked for cheese platter, and nothing happened. Another twenty minutes passed. When I entered the bar [yet again] to remind [also again], the woman and server were eating cheese sticks. They literally offered me that plate which they were eating from. What the hell?

They then told me there’s no cheese platter and I should go and get it for myself from the cheese store next door… just wow.

We asked for ‘tap water’. They charged it €3.2 PER GLASS. That’s €6.4 for 600ml water!!!!! It wasn’t even tagged as water on the menu, it was just tagged as extra.

They said they did a favour to us by not charging for beer and cheese sticks - stuff we never even ordered. But charged us a bomb for tap water.

As a tourist who was having a horrendous experience since 40 min, I was too exhausted to pick on a hot day a fight and just left.

Please do yourselves a favour and do not visit this horrible place. There are better places...

We just hit on this place by accident. Visiting Amsterdam on a Sunday afternoon with friends, we were looking for a place to get out of the rain. We stumbled into the Twee Zwaantjes and what a wonderful surprise! Live music, great drinks and excellent service. This quickly became a favourite café of mine in Amsterdam. The staff here were friendly, and sung along to the retro Dutch pop music being played - this gave the place a unique and warm atmosphere. The walls are adorned with music art and memorabilia, and the beer is very good. I spent a great afternoon here with friends, beating the heat - I can't wait to...
