This is a wonderful place for dinner before visiting the National Opera and Ballet Theatre. The service is quick, and the staff are attentive to customers’ wishes. That time my friend and I had a salmon, and we were both very pleased. The side dish was quite interesting and complemented the main ingredient perfectly. However, I have a question to their chocolate Lava Cake — there was no actual “lava” inside, and that was disappointing for me. Nevertheless, for me, it was a delightfully tender brownie served on a chocolate sauce. The problem is just in their title. You expect to get your volcano before the lava erupts, but in their version you get it a few minutes after… ;) So, I would simply recommend changing the name to better manage guests’ expectations. “Baby Brownie” or “Magical Brownie” would suit it best, because it’s absolutely delicious — as long as you’re not expecting to see the lava, while cutting the cake yourself. In any way, I definitely recommend it to brownie lovers. You’ll be satisfied!

This is a fantastic place with friendly staff. It is a great area if the main part of Amsterdam is getting a bit much. There is a Coffeeshop a couple of doors down but you do not see the same "clientele" as you would on the main strip of Amsterdam City. There are 16 Special Beers on Draft with many of them local. There is a Metro Station 50 yards from here if you decide to venture back into the main city. The Nationale Opera & Ballet building is directly opposite also if you prefer the cultural side of Amsterdam.

The Eetcafe Blauwbrug is a great little restaurant with a full menu and full bar. I stopped in for dinner with Ox Tail soup, and veal liver and it was delicious. There is plenty of outside patio seating and a beautiful interior, I loved the lighting. It is a cozy date type of restaurant and the prices are not high either. The wait staff was very nice and greeted me when I came in and offered my choice of seating. I will be back here again.

My daughter and I were looking forward to a coffee in this cafe after a long walk into Amsterdam. The cafe looked cosy and friendly. We were met by a distinctly unfriendly member of staff who's attitude became unwelcoming as soon as she realised we were English. We are 2 women who were sensibly dressed, friendly and polite and her continued hostility wasn't necessary. They didn't have decaf coffee so I ordered a tea for which a box was plonked on the table for me to choose one without a word. To top off a tense and uncomfortable refreshment stop when one of the kitchen staff came up from the cellar with the day's baguettes she dropped one on the floor and just picked it up and put it on top of the rest. Congratulations Eetcafé Blauwbrug you were the only negative spot on an otherwise...
