Very cozy place to enjoy a German beer. The inside is really quiet and comfortable, a really nice style. Beers are somewhat particular, which is nice since you can differ from the usual Dutch beers you can find in every pub/bar. Prices are on average, especially if you consider the central location it has, 5 minutes from the Rijksmuseum and even less from beautiful area of De Pijp. It is definitely recommended if you want to try something different. Thank you for the experience!

One of the most authentic and bars with a soul. If you like " rundowm" places in kreuzberg or friedriechachein areas in Berlin this is a match made in heaven. I lost my wallet here last weekend and they immediately put it in safekeeping ❤️💙🖤. If you want vibes and not industrial lamps /generic ikea furniture / coffee/overpriced chia seed smoothies /overpriced granola bars this is your new palace. Beware the last time i visited i barely could sit next to the piano

My all time favourite bar. I love their seasonal drinks. Now it is spring time, soon rhabarberzeit. The sour beer is an all seasons favourite for me. During the winter they have soulwarming warm cider, so good you forget about the cold and wet Dutch weather outside. It’s always full but cozy, you gotta be lucky with a seat, but once a spot, you have a good time, good drink, and great service from the friendly staff :)

Great German beers, snacks, and atmosphere.

You will be hard pressed to find people in the Netherlands making compliments about their eastern neighbors. Common Dutch wisdom holds that the Germans have no sense of humor, spark no joy, and continue to use Dutch beaches to dig trenches, to lie in because they have no chill to just tan.

That being said — Cafe Brecht has brought some of the best of German culture to Amsterdam. The care is a wonderful nook that feels half way between your Muttie’s living room, Brechts writing room, and a well done German (sports) cafe.

It’s one of those places you have to know about and as such it draws in a steady set of fun locals (in a location where it’s easy to only attract noisy tourists). They do hospitality and beer in their own way which makes it such a fun...

A cozy and well located cafe in Amsterdam. However, the staff weren’t friendly and welcoming towards me. I arrived when the cafe was almost empty, so I took a table with five chairs as I was expecting another friend to come. However, very quickly the cafe got filled and then a lady approached me with a very dry attitude, ordering me to leave or sit at the bar. I understand that I can’t occupy 5 chairs, but that must be communicated with a nice and respectful attitude. Even when I asked to pay and expressed that this wasn’t nice, the reaction from the staff was so cold. I stepped out with my friend who just arrived and well never go back again. It is just one of the few cafes in Amsterdam that doesn’t care about their customers, knowing it is probably a tourist who would never...

Terrible customer service with rude bartenders. Spent a cozy evening here ordering drinks with friends. Towards the end of the night I ordered a cider which tasted incredibly sour and like it had spoiled. When I asked the bartender if I could possibly switch it for something else she was incredibly rude to me and acted like I was being incredibly unreasonable saying "well I already opened it so I can't serve it to somebody else".. which missed the point completely. I told her I wouldn't be ordering anything else and she and her coworker made faces at each other about me. This was very disappointing because all the drinks till then were lovely and it was a...
