We were mistreated at this bar by a staff member stationed at the entrance. As soon as we entered, he immediately picked on my friend and even slapped his backpack. This is certainly not the behavior of someone who wants the establishment to thrive.
Additionally, we were wrongly accused by him of breaking a glass. He even took a drink from one of our hands and placed it on the bar, saying we couldn’t drink that Coke there. To make matters worse, he insisted that all four of us had to order drinks to remain seated at the table.
Honestly, what kind of person behaves like this while working in your bar? This would never happen in Brazil, where people are treated with respect.
To top it all off, this staff member called one of our friends “stupid” over a misunderstanding about a glass being broken, even though it was the table next to us that caused it.
The treatment we received from this employee was appalling, rude, and completely unprofessional. Because of him, I would give your establishment a zero rating. You should seriously reconsider who you hire to represent...
Read moreDont really write reviews but I felt compelled to offer 5 stars for this gem of a bar. Good selection of beers and the decor is quirky nods to seafaring history and plaques on the wall let you know that professional drinkers have found a home. In the heart of the red light district with super friendly staff (Richard) totally made me feel at home and as if I was a local. TIP - sit at the bar offer good chat and your efforts will be rewarded with a cheeky short measure on the house. Music is eclectic from old classics to modern riffs not loud enough to be intrusive but a platform for Richard to belt out the occasional baritone line which brought smiles to all. Met some lovely local and non local folk at the bar and even a single woman whom was travelling on her own who Richard made feel comfortable and brought her into the conversation.
In short, if all bars were like this the world would be a better place but they are not and that’s why Old Sailor Amsterdam is a rare gem of a bar. Will definitely br back and thanks for the drinks...
Read moreWe came here for a few pints, it's not really a cafe it's more like a traditional English pub, with hen and stag doo's enjoying the beers on offer. The atmosphere was amazing playing 90's pop and people enjoying talking and some dancing inside, this pub is located in the heart of the red light district. I did feel two pints of strongbow for €18ish was a little way over priced.
They lost two stars because there wasn't enough seating outside, some people were sitting there with no drinks in hand while people who had drinks wanted to sit, and wasn't a far rotation of passing by people jumping for empty tables while who paid wanted a seat was asked to wait inside with no chance of getting outside.
Also the men's toilets are disgusting, they have a traditional Asian hole in the floor type toilet and there was piss everywhere and someone had been sick and there was splash back on the...
