Very friendly staff (most of the time) and excellent decor. The theme is applied top to bottom. This is a dine-in brewery. An excellent selection of beers, including a whole lot of their own home brews. The beer bread and beer butter are a must have- its a very basic thing, but the idea behind it, to reduce waste from the brewery is quite smart. You get large helpings of food for the mediocre price, though - being a chef and seeing what gets served in terms of "meals"- I never venture past bar food. The last time we visited, the beer bread wasnt available as it was very busy, and the space only got tighter as the night went on. As we were leaving, 2 different groups were having a stare down for our table! But that goes to say, the popularity of this place is a good indicator of the quality. Its definitely not a place to visit for food, but the beers and service make it worth the trip. Just try to get there earlier in the evening. There are also board games to be enjoyed, but make no mistake, it's not your local pub. Its a great space for a chilled out night, or even for pre drinks for a big night to follow. A must visit for any short term...
Read moreThis used to be an amazing place and because of that I will give it three stars. Yesterday the employee asked us to write a positive review in exchange of free shots. We didn’t do that, but I’ll be happy to write a honest review anyway. The question the employee asked is striking for how this café deteriorated after corona. Before corona we came here after college to have a beer, during corona it was closed for an extraordinarily long time - even when other cafes had already reopened for months this location remained closed. Since then, everything has deteriorated. Most of the regulars from back then are gone, and I understand it's hard to find new staff but the atmosphere is just different. De gezelligheid and personal touch are gone and replaced for hypocrisy in the form of fake reviews in exchange for free shots. This does not suit de Bekeerde Suster and I hope this improves in the future; because I love...
Read moreHow this place has a 4.6 score is completely beyond me. I stumbled inside at lunch time as the table in the front listed black angus beef burger served with fries and salad as daily offer, which sounded good enough for a quick bite. The table was a bit sticky and the waiter informed me that there was no salad on a side of burger, it was a mistake on the board (he didn’t bother to correct it though, which would have taken him a minute because it was written in chalk and there were only a few guests inside). Second, the burger was the worst I had in my life - burnt meat which tasted like a shoe sole and literally no effort when it came to ingredients - who in their right mind would cut the cucumber ~1 cm thick?!? I’m telling you, Big Mac from McDonalds was a premium quality burger compared to this. The fries were decent, however 50 € for 2 shitburgers and 2 drinks is way overpriced, even for Amsterdam....
