Temple Bar — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Disgusting bar staff and service. We have travelled from Glasgow with our dog, we are fully aware that not every bar accepts dogs. We have been in dozens of bars in Amsterdam and went to 3 other Irish bars and they have allowed our small dog inside with no hesitation. However, we actively sought out Temple Bar as it was an Irish bar with decent reviews My husband went and asked could we bring our dog inside, if not outside. The staff member looked at him blankly so he repeated himself, the staff member asked him what a dog was? He then explained and repeated this incase a language barrier was an issue, the bar staff then asked what kind of dog, my husband explained the dog was a cocker spaniel and he said no. We fully appreciate that not every bar is dog friendly but in comparison to the hundreds of other bars in Amsterdam that welcome dogs and their owners we will not be back or recommending this bar to anyone. If the member of staff politely explained no, we would have said not a problem and went on our way. It was this man’s whole attitude, it was disgusting and demeaning really. The pub was also empty. You are lucky if 4 people were drinking inside. If you want an AUTHENTIC Irish bar, with Irish speaking FRIENDLY staff then go to Molly Malones, Paddy O’Reilys or Mulligans. After this issue, we went to molly malones, the pub was jam packed, a great atmosphere and the staff were could not do enough to accommodate us. Had a lovely friendly experience during the day…so decided to visit again in the evening. Big mistake! Bar staff were friendly on arrival….prices of drinks ridiculous compared to other bars..but at least it was a good friendly environment at first. After an hour…spending a lot of money…met a few other vistiors…enjoying our time…then a table of “off duty” staff who were drinking and clearly intoxicated decided to bully me and accuse me of illegally vaping inside the pub…even though my vape had no charge or battery and I was simply talking people I had just met. I was then threatened to be “thrown” out…and it was my last chance… Not a nice experience at all…word of advice for bar staff on actual duty…don’t listen to intoxicated off duty bar staff who like to accuse and bully lone females because they can’t...

After being extortionately over charged for our drinks we sat down outside to find that the table was completely unstable resulting in my friends drink to spill all over herself before she had got the chance to have a sip. The bar back saw what happened and decided to give no hospitality if she was okay or if he could get her anything. After going back up to the bar and being stared at by the bar back waiting for her to order another drink she had to ask for napkins as her dress was soaked.
