Really great place ...if you are Dutch (?)
While waiting for our dinner to arrive I was hardly kicked on my head by a waiter. It happens if you are working in a tight environment and I don't blame him for this. When the waiter finished his duties with the other customers I midly said to him "don't worry I'm not hurt" adding also a smile. He did not seemed to mind and went away. After around five minutes he came back very aggressively asking what was the problem and why I was saying something to him. My companion and I answered that there was no problem but, as he had hit me in my head I was just expecting him to recognise the fact -maybe say something- and close the subject. For the rest of the evening he just came around trying to make argument with us.
I know some Dutch, I have been living in The Netherlands for a while, and I just felt that -as we were talking Italian- we were considered as outsiders and not worth for an apology even for a stupid act as bumping someone in the head while working.
Being a professional who travels often I feel this attitude really disturbing and very dangerous in nowadays Europe. I would really recommend that anyone with this kind of behaviour would be removed from it's post whether it is a waiter or a politician.
The food is really good and at really reasonable price. We were greeted by a really nice waitress who was really helpful with the Dutch menu.
Great place to go if you are Dutch or can...
Read moreA friend recommended this place, I went with work colleagues expecting the average experience to be honest but boy was I wrong... oranjerie is one of those survivors of the classic old Amsterdam in my humble opinion. The atmosphere there is just so simple, nice, friendly... you just file like you arrive in a friend place's party. The food was ok but the selection of beer was what i liked the most, we met some many folks outside and inside on the tables around us. Was a bit crowded but i felt never uncomfortable. The friendliness of the staff and get this... the customer attention was great! they were checking un us sometimes if we needed something although you have to get your order at the counter... simple; just to make conversation an old fashion way to meet your customers... awesomeness ;-) Thank you guys,...
Read moreI was travelling with a mobility scooter and they couldn't have been more helpful to both set me up to charge as well as ensure I was comfortably seated, well fed the best burger in Amsterdam, and watered with Heineken 0, before enjoying a regular Heineken and a game of chess with an absolute gent of a local, which was hilarious as not only was there a language barrier but we're also both at least half deaf, but the atmosphere here lended itself to happy communication and playfulness among staff and patrons alike, very much watched over and managed by the owner, Orangeries, huge thank you amd happy memory 😀 I will be...
