IJs van Oost — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Great ice and lovely service in Oost!

The store is right on the lively Javastraat. It is a lovely neighborhood with a lot of stores, cafes and restaurants. I was there on sunny Sunday afternoon. I did not have to wait for too long. The variety of ice creams is great. They have around 20 different. I had two scoops - Melon and Mokka, really nice! The staff is really kind and welcoming. I paid 4€ which is a great deal for Amsterdam standards.

The store itself could be a bit cleaner, it was a busy day for sure but making tidying up a bit and giving some spots a wipe would make it feel a lot greater. There were also some streaks on the counter where the ice cream is served. Again, surely a busy day and things get out of sight whilst serving so many customers.

The ice cream itself could also be presented a bit more appealing. It tastes great but the presentation does not match it. It would also be nice to have wooden or paper-based spoons instead of the plastic ones on the counter which also everyone grabs into. Just a minor change. Surely more costly, but I would also pay more for it.

The stamp card is a nice way to keep customers coming. For every visit you get one stamp and after 10 stamps one scoop is free!

All in all,...

Some of the best ice cream Ive ever tried, it feels like its made of fresh and very good quality products. Their pistaccio is top tier, zero signs of food coloring nor artificial flavours. They are miles ahead the average ice cream shop in that sense.

Ik wil hierbij graag een klacht indienen over mijn recente bezoek aan IJs van Oost. Mijn ervaring was helaas bijzonder teleurstellend en ik hoop dat u dit serieus zult nemen. Allereerst was de hygiëne ver te zoeken. Mijn ijsje smaakte niet vers, en binnen enkele uren na consumptie kreeg ik last van mijn maag. Ik vermoed voedselvergiftiging, wat natuurlijk uiterst zorgwekkend is. Tot overmaat van ramp trof ik ook nog een blond haar in mijn ijs ronduit onsmakelijk. Daarnaast viel de bediening tegen. Er zaten twee Nederlandse meisjes achter de toonbank die vooral met elkaar bezig waren en nauwelijks aandacht hadden voor de klanten. Ze bleven maar praten, terwijl ik aan het wachten was om geholpen te worden. Toen ik uiteindelijk mijn ijs kreeg, was de portie schandalig klein voor de prijs die ik ervoor betaald heb letterlijk een klein schepje. Kortom slechte hygiëne, onvriendelijke en ongeïnteresseerde bediening, een te kleine portie én mogelijke voedselvergiftiging. Ik ben hier ontzettend teleurgesteld over en wil dit absoluut onder de...
