lovely atmosphere. Very cozy. Very nice and kind young girls who work here, may not be professional waitresses or bartenders, I’d argue it’s a bit of this place’s charm. The “snack” of toasted chicken sandwich, is good to try; however, the taste was not equally dispersed for some reason, so the first bite can have a noticeably different taste with the last few ones. Although definitely not an adult’s lunch, very edible and enjoyable. Cappuccino is yet another good thing about the place. They have definitely done their coffee making practice well, and better than that, the branding and advertising. I would suggest, it’s not a place to grab something to bite and go. It’s one of those places that you have to come with a friend or two, have a long conversation while having brunch and coffee. Or, you can come and read something in the other room if alone. I’m happy that I randomly found this place, without knowing anything about it, and I was greeted with a big friendly smile. Ps: the only drink available is “coffee based”. So have that in mind. Koffie Academie should be on the bucket list of every serious coffee aficionado . Here you can enjoy an espresso or beautifully adorned cappuccino in a charming chilled out area overlooking the busy going-ons of the Overtoom at the front and a delightful garden at the rear. They take their coffee here very serious indeed and even have their own roasting facilities on the premises. Such is their knowledge, Koffie Academie advise a large portion of the city's eminent and self-respecting coffee venues. Twice a week, they offer dedicated barista workshops for a maximum of about a dozen attendees, which lasts for 3 hours, during which time they explain the origin and history of coffee, the basis of coffee extraction, maintenance and adjustment of espresso machines.and preparation of shots. Croissants and cakes are light and tasty right to the point.

So far nothing to deserve a 5, more of a 4, right?

Here is where the outsider comes on stage: the ginger shot! It’s one of the very few places where it’s freshly made on the spot and it’s so loaded with ginger, turmeric and the right sprinkle of black pepper that you’ll wonder what have you had up to now.
