It was ok. booked a small double room and it was extremely small, no where to open your luggage at all. Place is a little dirty and run down looking. Extremely, extremely over priced considering the location, the condition and it being off-season. No elevator so had to carry luggage to third floor, but not uncommon for Europe. When we got into the room we couldn't figure out how to turn any of the lights on, none of the outlets worked, and I couldn't blow dry my hair and shower head holder was snapped off so made it very difficult to wash your hair as you had to hold the shower head in your hand. Told this all to the front desk (no phones in the room, there is an whats app chat you can use) and they said someone would come by hopefully within the half hour to fix it all. I asked if there was another hair dryer I could use as we had dinner renovations and I now had wet hair to which they said no. Asked if they could message me when the room was fixed so we could come charge our devices/dry my hair which they said they would. Never heard back after about 2 hours so messaged them first and they told me there was no issues with the room.. Came back and found the shower fixed but still couldn't figure out the lights... Asked if there was a button or something we needed to activate the electricity. Eventually the girl at the first desk came up for me to show her the issues and she showed me where I need to put the keycard in the wall for the electricity to turn on. Told her I had never seen that before and she very rudely said "lots of hotels have it" and left. I'm Canadian and my partner was born and raised in Europe and neither of us had seen that before, I just don't understand how it didn't occur to either of the staff I spoke to about the lights to mention that to us, especially since I specifically asked if there is something we need to do to activate them. Went out with wet hair and now and sick for the rest of my trip. For the ladies, there is no shampoo or conditioner, it's a all in one male body wash in the shower, which was also annoying since I specifically checked if all the hotels I booked on my three week trip would have shampoo etc as I didn't want to lug around large bottles. Overall would not have mind the stay here If I didn't pay nearly $300 CAD a night, it's not a hotel, it's a step up...
Read moreThe hotel staff was a little bit cold in receiving us. We missed our flight to Amsterdam due to airline cancellation. We took a regional bus instead and missed the evening of our check-in. The staff told us we forfeit our 2-days stay which I have pre-booked and paid since May because of no-show. We pleaded that they reconsider since it was not our fault that the airline cancelled. But to no avail they refuse to grant us the continuation of our booking saying they have offered the room to others. But they said if we want to stay there we have to pay again for another evening if they still have available room. I protested with such a devious scheme to rip us off again but to no avail, we are too exhausted to argue anymore because of the overnight bus trip and we only have 1 day to enjoy Amsterdam since we lost one day and night already from the botched flight. I have no choice but to agree to book a new with them. Then all of a sudden the staff says there is one more room available. I quickly paid for it so that we can refresh ourselves and go out to do what we needed to do in Amsterdam for a day.We felt cheated by this staff which we did not record the name but I can only notice her thick Italian accent. Outside the front of the hotel is quite dirty. Inside there is a stench of urine which comes from a toilet improvised near the staircase with no vent but through its only door which is typically open, the air conditioning did not work, we were sweating in our room, there is no elevator and the staircase was high to the next floor. It was very difficult for those having large luggage. Not recommended for old folks like us. The incident of them conveniently double charging us in our time of desperation was deplorable. It was truly regrettable. I will not recommend this place to...
Read moreThis was truly the worst hotel experience of my life. I’ve never written a negative review, but I do feel I must leave a warning here for fellow travelers. I would never ever recommend this hotel to anyone I know. My laptop was stolen out of my locked room which even had a do not disturb sign on it. Further, the hotel staff proceeded to gaslight me about it. Multiple staff members repeatedly questioned me instead of helping me in an awful situation. There was no policy in place, only one hotel staff at the front desk at the time of theft discovery who made no emergency calls and left me scrambling in a foreign country to try to find the correct police station to report this to. I was simply stunned by the way they handled this, which was a break in on their premises. After the shock of this within hours of checking in, they refused to move me to another room and were extremely reluctant to give me a refund. This was the first day of my trip and my first experience of Amsterdam. I switched hotels and filed a police report as soon as I could. The way this hotel handled such a violation of personal property theft in their establishment was simply awful. They showed no regard for the safety and security of their paying guests. I truly suggest you choose another hotel. If you’re on a budget, stay at a hostel. This is simply not a...
