La Parole — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I read an article in the local paper about the owner/manager of this restaurant , which was interesting to read , and I passed by the place many times , so I was curious to find out how it would be inside ... So I decided to have lunch there with a friend ... but it was not a pleasant experience ...

That was mainly due to one of the girls working there that sunday afternoon. She was really uninterested in the guests , which was clearly visible on her face , but also with what she said ... She really didn't want to be there , and did not make the people feel welcome.

It started when we wanted to go into the little restaurant. It was cold outside so we wanted to go inside quickly , but she was just closing the front door , and then she said to us "Come in quickly and close the doors behind you !" Not very welcoming ...

Inside it was very small and most of the tables were occupied , so we had to sit at the bar ... which was fine for us , but because it was so small there this same girl bumped into me several times , which might be understandable , but not even once did she apologise for bumping into me over and over !

This girl was clearly not interested in the guests , but she was interested in a boy that was working in the (open) kitchen ... many times when she didn't have to do anything for the guests she went into the kitchen to make out with this boy in the kitchen , clearly visible to us ... and with making out I mean kissing and cuddling ...

This girl was so unprofessional and negative that it ruined our experience in this place. Because of this I don't ever want to go there again , and I will not recommend it to anyone.

There was another girl working there that sunday afternoon , and she was a lot friendlier and asked us several times if everything was allright , but she was dragged down by the negativity of that other girl. Because we were sitting at the bar we could hear everything that they were saying and this negative girl was only complaining and moaning about a lot of things , which was influencing the other girl visibly.

The food was OK and the kitchen staff looked professional enough , but the experience was destroyed because of the terrible service by this negative girl ... Such a bad experience , never again ! Such a shame that this nice looking place is taken down because of the...

Our experience was not good. This is me and my boyfriends second time eating here and unfortunately it will be our last. Overall, everything took way too long. It took 2 hours for our meal to come. We only ordered a main dish, group of 5 people total. It took 30 minutes to take our first order of drinks. Smaller tables were served first. It really diminished the experience. After seeing tables eat first , even though they came in after us, was not fun. When our food did come, it was cold. We ordered the chicken gordong bleu, crab ravioli, cheeseburger, coquilles and the mussels. The mash potatoes were actually cold to the touch. The mussels were the only dish that was warm. We also ordered the escargots, but asked if it could be brought out at the same time as the main dish. This did not happen. We got the escargot first, and then waited for an hour to have our main dish. No joke, when we were getting really hungry, looked at hour watches and saw an hour had past. Also the general checking up with us, was absent. Only 3 times in 2,5 hours, our server came over to our table. One of those times, we had to walk over to the bar to get the water we requested. The server in our area was just not attentive. When we asked for the bill, our server forgot about us again. She never walked over to the counter, but started doing her other tasks. So after 10 minutes, she still hadn’t prepared our bill. We got the bill ourselves and left asap. Just so unfortunate. First time was the same experience, everything takes a long time. This is a new place for me La Parole so...... Came in for a cup of coffee but all the tables were made up for food consumpion except the bar . So i tought why not try soup so i can sit on a chair . Recomended by the waitres 2 kinds of fresh made soups one was unionsoup two was .......so ...oke ,soup tells a lot of a restaurant.So i went for the Unionsoup french La Parole name why not ). While i was pollishing my spoon Washmachine spots Waitress warned me its hot be carefull and Yes the bowl was hot because of the oven to melt the cheese on top of the piece of frenchbread in my soup.Carefull i took a sipp of my french soup / melted cheese boillion....a little light for my taste with a dash of onnion taste. Problems came....... soon when the bread went soaking wet and it change my soup in breadcheesestew. at home when ik do this is use butter on the bread before iroosted it. So its a little creasy toast when i put it in the soup before i melt the cheese on top of my soup in the oven. ( because of the butter the boillion doesnt pennetrade the roasted bread and it will stay longer flooting on my soup and will stay cruncy..
