Massimo Gelato — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Massimo, regardless of location serves up some of the best gelato in town! The flavours, options and the textures are well ahead of competition.

Location and Interiors: (5/5) It is snuggled away in the west. Not too far from to reach when on the west of the city. The interiors are really nice. Much bigger then expected. Some great natural light as well to make it a great place to sit and enjoy the gelato. Certainly larger than the pijp location.

Gelato: (5/5) Top notch. The best in the city. The flavours are fantastic as they bring out the core flavours we would expect and they feel far more natural than other locations that try to enhance the flavours. The servicing sizes are also great and the options of cones or cups makes for a great pic regardless of the way you prefer.

Service: (5/5) Super quick and smiling faces. Great and friendly staff service very quickly and ensure that nothing stands between you and your gelato.

Really good ice cream! I love Massimo's pistachio flavour. I'm giving 2 stars because yesterday evening I went with my girlfriend and we had the worst experience I've ever had getting ice cream. It was a quiet night, but once inside there was no "hi" or anything like that, just straight: "cone or cup?" I was suggesting a second flavour to my girlfriend, but before she could decide she was handed her cone and the employee barked at me to ask what I wanted. We then received 2 cones with half of the ice cream falling off the side, and mine was half size of the previous time. She gave us the ice cream, which was already melting on our hands, and straight she slammed down the pin machine, without even asking if we needed a napkin to handle the mess. After the payment went through we got a rude "have a good night!" without any eye contact, and her back already turned to us. Once we got out we felt shocked. I was really surprised because 2 nights earlier we had a really nice experience. Still don't know if I will go there again after...

I have been to this ice cream place since it opened back in the Pijp and then to the other branches, especially this one close to foodhallen. This place is pretty hit and miss at this stage... The cone is sold out... Almost always... I don't understand why if it's something that customers like/request... Just order more.... The quantity in the cup really depends on the person serving you. You can be lucky and have a decent filled cup or an almost empty one with the same price.... The variety of flavors is not becoming a bit tight.. I would love some more flavors, many where sold out so the choice was very limited in the end, especially if you like only non fruity flavors... The line was huge yesterday and I believe they slow down the service on purpose to create the line which is always catchy and gives a sign of good place for ice cream... Marketing tactics... Not sure if this is the best place for gelato anymore in Amsterdam.. Pity. Gelato is not only taste but also. Atmosphere, service...
