Been coming here for years and sadly it's come to a point where the pursuit of efficiency and quick turnaround times have taken it's toll on the food and service. Loetje is an institution for sure, and you expect simple and delightful food served with a smile. However this location has turned into a factory; you can't choose your own table, you are literally asked to wrap up if the staff thinks you're taking too long to drink your dessert coffee, the past 3 visits we always had to send our steak back because it wasn't served well done like we requested (the stake was literally still bleeding) or the food was served cold. Everytime the problem was acknowledged by staff, but no apologies offered. This seems to be due to a lack of properly trained staff. Guys; I know it's difficult to get motivated staff nowadays, but at least please train the ones you have. The difference with other Loetje locations like Zuidas, but particularly Loetje Laren, is night and day. Please put some effort into making Loetje the place it used to be, especially if you want to justify the...
Read moreWe walked to this restaurant from another Loetje location where we had a reservation. When we arrived at the first location, we were told that the power had just gone out in the kitchen and it was unclear when it would be back on. Instead of having us sit and wait, the very nice maitre’d called over to Loetje de Pijp and said they had a table for us. We walked over there — about 950 meters or over half a mile — but they refused to seat us. A woman told us to find our own seating outside if any was available. It was full. They wouldn’t take our name for a table or tell us when a table might open up. She shrugged and said there’s nothing she could do about it. I asked to speak with the manager and she was surprised, as if no one ever does that. She was smirking and supposedly called for a manager. We stood for a long time and got tired of waiting. We got fed up. As we were leaving it looked like maybe someone was heading over. Too late. We’re over it. Left a bad taste on our final night in Amsterdam. Worst customer service ever. I’d rate them zero stars if that...
Read moreWe had the best meal and best steak dinner in amsterdam! This is a fantastic place with heart for those with Allergens. We came twice. The first time we had a goat cheese salad but but were unaware of the large selection of gluten free items avaliable. We came back the second night and the waiter was so knowledgeable. They told us we could actually have the steak with their homemade magical garlic sauce as well as French fries that they Fry in a separate frier so people with celiacs and gluten free needs are not cross contaminated and can enjoy French fries. I also have to mention Jaron and his colegue Dalila they made are entire trip to Amsterdam. We had a very difficult time finding places that were good and safe to eat. This place was not only delicious but accommodated us like I've never expirenced before. Thank you! We will back for dinner tomorrow...
