We visited this pizzeria after reading the rave reviews, and seeing pictures which told of authentic Italian style pizza. My partner is Italian (on one side), and was very excited to see that traditional methods were being observed. Upon entering we were left unattended for quite a while at the till, however the staff were initially friendly and were able to squeeze us in despite there being no available tables. The atmosphere in the restaurant was nice - relaxed and bustling. This meant that for the first 45 minutes if our wait for our pizza, we were unbothered by our lack of dinner. However after an hour or so, the waiter having comeback to check our order at one point, we were starting to get hungry (read hangry) and were approached for a second time. The waiter asked for our order AGAIN, seemingly having no prior knowledge of what we had ordered and offering no apology or recognition for the long wait. After an 1 hour and a quarter, we finally received our pizzas, with little ceremony and again no acknowledgement of the tardiness, and the fact that all other patrons had come and eaten in the time it took to wait. Some drinks while we waited would have been a welcome gesture, rather than the moody response 'we make a lot of pizzas', when we enquired as to the ETA for our meal - evidently our order was forgotten, and a bit of honesty about this would have been welcome. The bitter taste, however, could not last long as the pizza, however delayed, was exceptional. Through gritted teeth (and this was a messy way to eat) we couldn't help but delight at the charred dough replete with the characteristic leapard spots, the exceptional ingredients (succulently sweet piennolo tomatoes) and the quality of the molten cheese. Our conversation at this establishment was punctuated by the consistent flow of delivery drivers through the door just behind us, so we can only assume that customers would do well to order a pizza and reasonably expect prompt delivery. If you are willing to risk bad service (although it was clear such sluggish service is not their m.o. but rather a mistake was made in our case which went unacknowledged) for a delicious pizza, then mangiancora (tr. Eat again) is the place for you. Some acknowledgement for the poor service would have been welcome, but the truth is we might still 'eat again' here for the food alone. We had a lovely time and were left wondering whether we had 'idiot' written on our heads and the proprietors felt free to take advantage on a busy Friday night. I guess that's all you can expect for two...
Read moreThis place is ran by real italian guys. They are from Napoli and both have this typical southern Italian charm. One of them came to the table to chat with us and explain us about the ingredients of the pizza and about a super delicious dessert they just received from Napoli, called delizia al limone.
The pizza is the best I have ever tried in Amsterdam. Classical napoletan pizza, super light dough with the typical cornicione. The combinations they offer are amazing. We tried patata, provola e prosciutto and super diavola. Definitely we will get back.
The place is tiny, but it feels cozy due to the friendly attitude of the owners. If there is one thing I consider that should be improved is about the WC. I think a little paint on both, the walls and ceiling of the toilet would help a lot to make the customer's experience...
Read moreMangiancora is hands down our favorite pizzeria in Amsterdam. The quality of the pizza is outstanding — truly authentic Neapolitan style, baked in a real wood-fired oven, with that perfect balance of crispy and chewy. Today we tried one of their specials and, just like every time, it was full of flavor and made with care.
What really sets them apart is not just the food (which is honestly better than most pizzerias in the city), but also the two brothers who run the place are incredibly welcoming — you can feel the passion they put into everything they do.
And the prices? Super fair, especially for the quality you’re getting. It’s rare to find such great value these days.
If you’re looking for real pizza, made with heart, this is the place to go. Highly recommended! Don’t forget to try...
