I love Café Stroom, i live around the corner, and have been coming for brunch and/or coffee occasionally for a few years. The service is bright & friendly, and it is a delight to sit in the 'teras' in the sun in the square at the outside tables.
The food is normally good with tasty, well-priced open sandwiches ... but can be hit and the occasional BIG MISS! I was recently served there what was probably the worst scrambled eggs (roerei) I have ever had in my life ...even the Dutch K Marinier kitchens do better roerei ... Haha! I appreciate this candor, and had the AMAZING oyster mushroom open faced sandwich on gluten free bread instead!! I will be back.
For those needing gluten-free /glutenvrije options: the options are sandwichs on GF bread, eggs,...
