Strom in de Pijp is great at accommodating a wide variety of dietary needs. The menu is clearly marked with gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options, as well as marking dishes with nuts. I trust the waitstaff and kitchen because when I asked if it would be possible to do a gluten free toastie, the waitress checked and said the chef said it depended on how sensitive I was. I appreciate this candor, and had the AMAZING oyster mushroom open faced sandwich on gluten free bread instead!! I will be back. For those needing gluten-free /glutenvrije options: the options are sandwichs on GF bread, eggs, salads, or soup.

Great place for some bites and drinks. Stellar location, and friendly staff. The food is good. We ordered chicken & waffles and nachos. I do have some minor criticisms: 1. The chicken is sweet and shredded, which is not typically how I've had it. It's not bad but not my preference. 2. The nachos were good but I wish the toppings were a bit more generous. The cheese and stuff didn't really cover them, but it was still good, especially for a side. It could pass as a main if it had a little extra on top. Either way, it was still delicious and came fast.

Definitely recommended when you're in the area. Unfortunately there are only a few picnic benches available so there isn't a lot of space available outside. There's a lot of sun though (whole morning/afternoon) so that can be a plus. The food is good, the service is prompt and the prices are in line with other restaurants in the area. I can recommend the Uitsmijter (fried egg on toasted bread) and the Holtkamp Kalfskroketten.

I love Café Stroom, i live around the corner, and have been coming for brunch and/or coffee occasionally for a few years. The service is bright & friendly, and it is a delight to sit in the 'teras' in the sun in the square at the outside tables.

The food is normally good with tasty, well-priced open sandwiches ... but can be hit and the occasional BIG MISS! I was recently served there what was probably the worst scrambled eggs (roerei) I have ever had in my life ...even the Dutch K Marinier kitchens do better roerei ... Haha! (I'm an old bachelor nowadays who can't boil an egg, but even I can do better roerei at home. LOL). These eggs were not only scrambled, but were overcooked into dry crumbly matter even burnt brown in parts. Een roerei moet je roeren, jongens, toch? Any chef or serving attendant could have seen that this was not suitable to serve, and needed to be re-done. What happened guys? I paid €13 for your little pile of dry, dead 'roerei' crumbles 😂. In the Dutch Marines it was: "Aangebrand en nog niet gaar. Houd je mond en (vr)eet nou maar!" 😂 So I did, but I won't be...

Food was perfectly adequate, I suppose. So I’ll give a 2 star rather than a 1. Unfortunately this is the worst table service I’ve experienced while living in the city.

It took nearly 20 minutes for our table to be cleared, another 10 to have a menu given for the table before we had to pull someone aside for a second time to ask for assistance. After this, it took over 20 minutes for my partner’s cappuccino to arrive - we’ll after the food had been served. In the meanwhile, I saw two tables around us sit down and leave at the wait for being served.

I understand restaurants get busy in an area like Pijp, but then either hire more staff, better train your current staff, or reduce the number of tables.

Will not be...
