I’ve come to this cafe several times over the years and the coffee is very great, the place is beautiful and the food is pretty good (although if you are looking for 5 star meal, I wouldn’t say this is the place) but I come back because it’s a nice spot and the menu indeed caters to many.

The waitress we had (Sunday 22/5) was extremely rude and unlike any experience I’ve had here. We live in The Hague and we’re looking forward to a nice brunch before an event in Amsterdam. It was a really disappointing morning due to the service.

Maybe they are understaffed but the attitude made it way less enjoyable. It was a pity.

The experience: -She was upset that we had taken water from the pictured jar (no sign saying we couldn’t) then immediately asked if our group of 4 was Dutch or English. [we are half and half] a very weird question.

-After she took our drink order, we asked if we could also order food as we knew quickly what we wanted and her reply was “You didn’t let me finish talking”. I feel like this is a normal question, some servers will give you more time, some ask if you’re ready. We also literally said please and thank you every time. Even though she was rude.

-We had a big order with many paid extras and she didn’t write it down. This is fine if you are indeed able to effectively do so. The waitress repeated the order correctly but when she brought it out it she brought 1 completely different meal. She blamed us, saying she did it correct (she didn’t) instead of taking any initiative. She was rolling her eyes, talking to us like we were in the wrong. Then she said it’s not possible to correct because it’s busy.

We even said we’d still take and pay for it but we still want the originally ordered meal. She still said it’s too busy and she couldn’t guarantee it would come. (It actually came out super fast)

-After getting our meals we had no cutlery and she didn’t mention she was going to get it. We didn’t notice right away but when we did, someone in the party walked up to the desk to ask someone for it. No big deal. I used to work in hospitality and I really don’t mind to go ask for something from anyone around the server stand. She was at the stand and when I asked her for it she said in a really aggressive tone: “If you waited a minute I was coming over”. Naturally, we cannot read her mind, so no, we didn’t know if she noticed ….and I felt I was doing her a favour from making her walk across the room.

After breakfast we decided to order 2 large cappuccinos for take away (again did not write down) and she brought back 2 small. We asked “are these the large?” She said, no small and dropped the bill on the table.

-The bill was 140€ we asked if we could pay split in 2 and she stormed off. (We didn’t need a new bill?)

It overall was tone, body language and eye rolling that is not really conducive of normal (not even good, but normal) customer service positions. We’re nice people, order a lot and always tip well (especially for Dutch standards where it’s not normal) it was a really unfortunate morning.

I have empathy that maybe she has something personal, but the rudeness was beyond necessary. I hope management can help this individual, I wouldn’t quickly recommend anymore this spot for those looking for a comfortable morning brunch. It was anything but...

Awful experience. Of course I am here to also talk about the laptop issue. I arrived with my team (3 other people) for a meeting with a client. At the start, we explained to the staff at the entrance that we would have a meeting and that we needed a quieter area (there was loud music on the ground floor, ironically where the laptop area is). He said that we could go up only with the condition that we could not use 5 laptops, that using just an ipad at least, was okay. We went to the top floor, ordered coffees and tea. The client arrived and opened her laptop. The waitress that took our order reminded us that we could not have any devices on the table, but we told her that the person at the entrance had let us use at least one device. A short time after our drinks arrived, the same person from the entrance (called Scot/Scott) interrupted our meeting by approaching us with an extremely rude attitude. He started repeating himself multiple times as of the fact that he told us we could not use our laptops and we did not do what he said, even after we apologized and explained that we misunderstood, and that we had a client with us during the meeting. We kindly asked if it would be okay to continue at least with the ipad as we were showing our client visuals about their business, for which he said it was okay, and left. We shared the documents we needed to show the client to our ipad and were about to close them per his request, but he returned with a card machine to charge for the drinks we received 2 minutes ago telling us to settle the bill and leave. So we had to take the client to Joe & the Juice right across the street, which was way more pleasant and no one had a problem...

Coffee & Coconuts is a great little cafe in the Nieuwe Pijp neighborhood of Amsterdam. The cafe has a beachy vibe, with lots of natural light and white walls. The menu features a variety of coffee drinks, fresh coconut juice, and an eclectic selection of food.

I recently visited Coffee & Coconuts for brunch and was very impressed with everything I ordered. I started with a cappuccino, which was perfectly made. The coffee was rich and flavorful, and the milk was steamed to perfection. For my main course, I had the avocado toast, which was topped with a poached egg, feta cheese, and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. The toast was perfectly crispy, the avocado was creamy, and the poached egg was cooked perfectly. I also tried the french toast and it was out of this world and the best I ever had.

Overall, I had a great experience at Coffee & Coconuts. The food was delicious, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed. I would definitely recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a great place to eat in Amsterdam.

One thing I would suggest to Coffee & Coconuts is to add eggs benedict to their menu. I think this would be a great addition to the breakfast offerings, and it would be something that I would definitely...
