On a Sunday morning the queue outside stretched down the street, with is a clear testament to the place for breakfast. There’s menus available outside on the street to decide while you wait and the queue went surprisingly quickly.

The menu is really extensive. Every variety of omelette is offered but if you are struggling then the ‘construct your own options’ are available as a backup! As well as food there’s a good choice of drinks, including vegetable smoothies, which are all offered in a variety of sizes.

The kitchen is completely open and it’s interesting watching the team work from the two chefs who prepare all the dishes. As expected the whole restaurant was very busy and every single member of staff was rushing about. This meant that the level of personal service wasn’t where it could have been, and the wait for drinks was excessively long. Despite this everyone was friendly enough.

Size of the food portions was great for the price and the quality was superb. Everything was really tasty, clearly fresh having watched the preparation and really flavoursome. Presentation was good too and despite it only being an omelette thought had been applied!

Atmosphere was great, decor was nice and everywhere was clean too. Our table in the centre of the restaurant was a good size for two people but no where felt like it would be cramped. Overall it’s one of the most enjoyable breakfasts I’ve had and I’d certainly return. It’s popular for a reason and there’s plenty of options on the menu to prevent it getting boring. If you like eggs, have i got good news for you. Omelegg is a gem for any egg lover, with a creative menu that brings eggs to life in endless ways. The options range from a wide variety of pre-designed omelettes, all generously portioned and well-seasoned, to the freedom to design your own. If omelettes aren’t your thing, they also offer fluffy scrambled eggs, perfectly fried eggs, and even a unique twist—croissants stuffed with rich, savory eggs that are almost too big to handle! The food quality is excellent, with everything tasting fresh and made-to-order.

The coffee, sourced from a bean-to-cup machine, is decent but feels like one area that could be improved to match the high quality of the food. That said, it’s still a satisfying accompaniment to the meal.

With its lively atmosphere, great value for money, and upbeat music that adds a fun vibe, Omelegg is a place that makes you feel welcomed and energized. The service was impressively quick, adding to an overall smooth experience.

From the moment I walked in, the cozy atmosphere and friendly service made me feel right at home. You can tell they genuinely care about their food and their guests. The menu had the perfect balance of classic favourites and creative twists. The farm boy was hands down one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in Europe. Fresh ingredients, beautiful presentation, and flavours that really hit the mark. Coffee was excellent too—smooth, rich, and clearly made by someone who knows what they're doing. Bonus points for the freshly squeezed juice, such as the carrot juice, which was my absolute favourite. Highly recommend making this your go-to breakfast stop in Amsterdam.
