Café Gambrinus — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Lovely bar/cafe in the heart of De Pijp. It was quite crowded when I went on a Wednesday evening around 8:30, and seems to be a popular spot for locals from what I can tell (I was visiting from out of the country).

There is bar seating at the front and several tables in the back and on the upper level, probably enough seating for around 20-30 people at most. If you get there after 9pm you will probably have to stand or wait for a seat to open up.

The bartender and staff were very friendly and attentive, and the place had a nice, cheery atmosphere to it with large glass windows at the front illuminating the bar area.

I sat at the bar, and found the beer and company to be excellent. The cheesecake I ordered was alright but nothing to get too excited about. The rest of their menu had quite a variety to it and I regret not ordering an entree or other snack item to give them a try though.

I wish London had places like this. If it were in London it would be rammed and you wouldn't be able to hear yourself think but here it was no problem getting a table and super relaxing. Great decor with split level feature at back. Friendly helpful staff were able to rustle us up a vegan meal (off menu) and we returned on another occasion for late night drinks. Good...

Amazing dinner.

We had a table upstairs (ladder actually) in the loft section, which is has a great vibe with lots of natural light.

The service was impeccable, the food excellent and the beers were spot on.
