🇳🇱 Amsterdam is home to really amazing vegan places to eat and Margo's is a prime example of it. It is a strong contender for the best vegan pastry shop in the world, and an absolute must visit if you ever find yourself in Amsterdam.
Margo’s is located in the heart of the lovely and quaint neighbourhood of Jordaan. Strolling through the Jordaan on a nice sunny Sunday morning eating through my bag of Margo pastries is a highlight of my Amsterdam weekend trip.
Savoury pastries are one my favourite things in the world, no exaggeration, so obviously I had to get the ham and cheese croissant and it was a thing of dreams. The puff pastry looks absolutely beautiful with some of the most well defined layers I’ve seen. And it certainly had a taste to match! Just buttery perfection. No notes ✨
As much as I love savoury pastries there’s no way I was going to leave without some sweet pastries. They had a huge range of pastries, including at least a half dozen different danishes, all with really interesting flavours. After much careful deliberation, I got the key lime pie and the pistachio and rose ones (but I promised myself I’d go back soon to try the tiramisu one!). As with everything else they looked fantastic and tasted even better!
The amount choice is almost overwhelming, but honestly I don’t think you can choose wrong from Margo’s. The only wrong choice is to go to Amsterdam and not pay them a visit. I would recommend you try to go early though. The first time I tried to go (2pm on a Tuesday) they were already out of literally everything, and now that I’ve managed to try them, I can definitely understand why.

Read moreI came when they first opened a few years ago and can verify that there is nothing that doesn’t taste delicious here. My husband loves the jasmine tahini latte, I’m a die-hard black coffee with pastries person, and the americano is super nice. My kids like everything of course, though my 6 year old declared today that the savory danish (mushroom, Parmesan, micro greens) was “the best thing ever” and said he would order it instead of sweeter choices in the future. My favorite is the tahini bun and the toddler loves the cardamom bun and the orange-vanilla bun. The croissants don’t get weird after a day of waiting so if you like croissant sandwiches you can take it home for later. The cookies are also great, hah! I bring the tahini cookie to friends who are nursing babies. The toasties are also amazing!! And travel well if you don’t open the box before you’re ready to eat. Anyways, it’s the best place in town, just go! (Edited to reflect that we finally ate their...
Read moreI love Margo's so much 😍. I think I've racked up about 10 trips so far, so about time I left a review 😂
It's hard to find a decent sandwich in Amsterdam, especially a vegan one. Never mind vegan friendly croissants and pastries. And that's the gap that Margo's fills. I haven't had one sandwich or pastry that I didn't find mouth wateringly delicious. Everything is made fresh on the day and it's served with genuine smiles and warm heart from the owners.
Plus, have you ever had a vegan cheese croissant? No? Then get yourself over there pronto because those bad gals sell out fast!
My other personal favourites are the Crispy Tofu, or the Caprese sub sandwiches, with a salted tahini cookie on the side. And don't forget to buy a coffee, they are also super tasty 👌
My thanks go our to the team at Margo's for bringing an awesome selection of vegan food to the streets of Amsterdam 🙏. I'll keep coming back for the food, the smiles, and the...
