Saloon — Restaurant in Amsterdam

The coffee with milk is 4.25eur apparently. This seems very overpriced considering that the coffee had taste like some horrible filtered type. Since we ordered two coffees i gave the weighter 10eur and he never returned - should have given me the 1.5 eur back. I asked the barkeep about it an he said that "In the Netherlands we have this thing called Tips". I guess here the staff takes what it thinks it deserves. I ended up paying 10eur fo two very substandard coffees. Sure everything in Amsterdam is expensive but i asked some locals about it afterwards and they were amazed at my experience. Wonderful and Relaxing pub near the Rijksmuseum and the Leidseplein, nice seating outside to "people watch", or you can sit inside, and chat with the staff at the bar. GREAT BEER options on Draft, mostly from local breweries, including local Van Buuren Pilsner, which is a nice and welcomed change from the standard Heineken and Amstel, which is served in most pubs. All the Draft beers are super, great options from from local breweries, nice comfortable atmosphere, attentive service. A nice place to stop for a cold beer, a snack, a well made espresso, some people watching during a break from sightseeing or to start your evening in Amsterdam. Absolute crooks!!! Watch this joint. They are advertising different prices to what they charge!

My husband and I ordered two beers on the menu they were priced at €6.20 each, but when it came to pay, they cost €8.50 each.

When I questioned the prices, they told me that the size of glass we had was bigger than what was advertised on the menu, but OF COURSE, there was no mention of different sizes on the menu. Was there????

It is not the money, it is THE PRINCIPLE!!!!!

False advertising, absolutely scamming tourists, of course!!!!

Shame, but at least if people read reviews, they will be prepared since they can very easily be scamed by this place.
