This is the third time I’ve been to this restaurant over the past couple of years and my experience has always been great. The food is always delicious and the owner and staff are very friendly and warm people. Even though we came at 10:20pm, we were still greeted with a smile and happily accommodated. Although we were the last ones to leave and were still sitting there while the staff was having dinner, they didn’t try to rush us and were incredibly gracious. We had the mint chicken tikka, jasha momo and yeti’s food. Each dish tasted incredible and was so authentic and balanced. We especially fell in love with the spicy green chutney that was served with the mint chicken tikka and asked for more and they brought us an entire bowl of it. They saw that we were raving about it and loved it so much that they offered to share their grandma’s recipe for preparing that which we thought was super sweetšŸ«¶šŸ¼ As this restaurant is so incredibly popular, it’s always quite difficult to get a table and the space could be a bit bigger but I hope that their restaurant continues to remain successful and one day they can move to a bigger space. Can’t wait to be back here when I’m in Amsterdam again!

The food here was fantastic! My partner and I ordered the set menu for 2, which was well priced for such generous servings and amazing food. We were first served papadums, followed by a traditional Nepalese noodle soup. The soup was fresh and very tasty. The main courses served included a lamb curry, a chicken curry, a potato and cauliflower curry, and plain naan bread. The mains were too spicy for my liking, but were so good. The staff were quick to provide a yoghurt dressing too reduce the heat. We were able to choose a different dessert from the set menu choices, further reflecting the accommodating staff. We had mango ice cream topped with whipped cream, chocolate sauce and pear or pineapple pieces. It was the perfect ending to a great meal. The staff were very attentive and the ambience of the restaurant really added to the sensation of traditional Nepalese food culture.

This restaurant offers a refined dining experience with an well-decorated interior. The atmosphere feels quite fancy, and everything is spotless, adding to the overall appeal. There are plenty of seats, though they are placed a bit too closely together, which can make it slightly uncomfortable to get in and out, especially if the tables are fully occupied. The service was excellent—each dish came with a small explanation, which added a nice touch to the experience. The food itself was delicious, showcasing authentic flavors from Indian, Nepalese, and Tibetan cuisine. While some dishes felt a bit pricey for the portion size, the overall quality and presentation made up for it. If you’re in the mood for this type of cuisine, I’d definitely recommend coming here for dinner. The combination of great service, tasty food, and a well-maintained setting makes it worth a visit!

Wow! The spicing and flavours of the food is outstanding.

I am a meat eater, but currently eating vegetarian for a few weeks, which is why I picked this restaurant, after searching for best Vegetarian restaurants in Amsterdam. They also serve meat dishes, but Nepalese and Indian cuisine has a lot of vegetarian options.

I ordered two vegetarian dishes, both were amazing. The Tshel Momo (vegetable momos) were delicious, not at all soggy (which is hard to do with dumplings containing lots of vegetables) - and full of flavour.

The Aaloo Gobi (cauliflower and potato curry) was equally delightful, with layers of fragrant spices and some heat (can be ordered spicier of you want).

I also ordered some naan, which was light, fluffy, with some crispy crusts, and the slightest hint of sweetness.

One of the best meals I’ve had in a while, and not a single piece of meat - which for a meat lover like me, means it had to taste out of this world - and it did. I can only imagine how good their meat dishes taste.

To top it all off, the service was fast, friendly, and always with a smile - even with a packed dining room.

Apologies for no photos - every plate was eaten before I thought to take any pictures.

If you are in Amsterdam - and are after either great Nepalese and/or Indian food, or some awesome vegetarian food - do yourself a favour and dine at Sherpa.

When I’m next in Amsterdam I’ll be...

I visited this restaurant yesterday with my wife and we were blown away by the culinary experience.

We ordered the Chicken Momo & Sheek kebab for starters and Yeti Meal with Tarka dall rice and a Nan bread to share....and to say it was ā€œGoodā€ is a vast understatement.

The dishes were served in good time each course was just the right quantity and by the end of the meal we felt absolutely full...Throughly enjoyed the meal after a long walk.

The staff were exceptional, welcoming & the service was alert all the time we spent in the restaurant I ended up leaving them a small tip as I felt it was necessary and well deserved....10/10 would recommend to anyone who has a delectable appetite for an Indian, Nepalese & Tibetean Cuisine. This restaurant is not a tourist trap, the quality of food and services perfectly match the price.which is very reasonable & afforadable for all visiting Amsterdam. A little cosy gem of a restaurant situated near the famous leidesplein in the heart of Amsterdam. Highly...
