Shame really, very poor experience with the arrival, having been welcomed and positively encouraged to wait for a couple of minutes for a table of two coming free inside. I was ushered to sit on a table outside, given a menu to look over, and take a drink. Looking forward to a good experience and dinner as a nice looking ambiance and decent reviews. Sadly my 2 minutes wait became 20 minutes, however frustrating fact was with people leaving hoping I would get my table was not to be. Even while it had started to rain earlier waiting I could cope thinking i was nearly passed the doorstep, but a new group of 2 arrived who were immediately given a table inside and had not booked was unacceptable. I was ignored and when I asked, why was I not next to have a table was told to wait for another table as they were a group of 2 and why wouldn’t I like to wait and order outside, move to a place under an umbrella when that table became free. I expressed my frustration having wasted over 20 minutes the front of house was rude and did not help when I asked was there another place you could recommend. Fortunately around the corner was at a sweet little Italian restaurant where I had one of the best meals for a long while. Don’t be put off my review as I am sure the Samrat cuisine is very good from the reviews however unfortunately for me the service...

My girlfriend ordered the Dahl and it was different to all styles of Indian we are accustomed to in Australia. We also ordered the onion Bahjis which was a plate of oily fried pieces of bland onion (see photos). For main course we had the butter chicken which was also different to every style of Indian we have had as we are consistent Indian cuisine eaters in Sydney. It was extremely dairy cream like and sweet tasting chicken. Good texture chicken although the sauce was not the usual tomato blended fresh style. The rice which came with the butter chicken was okay if not slightly dry.
Overall, a friendly reception didn’t feed us on this night and we left hungry so we would say to any fellow Australians looking for a butter chicken give...
Read moreI am so sorry for the rudeness of this restaurant. I walked into the restaurant and it was crowded and the tables were full. I told them I would wait outside until a table became available. I waited for about half an hour, and when the table was empty, a family came in and sat in my place! I waited another ten minutes, and while I was waiting and standing in front of the door for them to see me waiting, a waitress came and pushed me away so I wouldn't have to stand in front of the door, knowing that most customers wait in front of the door and don't get pushed away! Unfortunately, they have no respect for customers. They could have told me there are no tables, no waiting, and we don't want you to come into the restaurant. For your information, there are over 1000 restaurants in...
